dome light picture request

Anyone have a dome light that has been replaced with a NON-LED light such as Polarg or PIAA Hyper Whites?

reason I'm asking is I'm planning to upgrade all my lights to LEDs, but after reading about the "glowing" issue with the LED dome light on the door setting, I want to see what one of these hyper white lights look like? I keep my setting on door setting, and I like that lights turn on when you unlock your car or when you turn off your car... I just don't want to deal with the glow.

What is this "glowing" issue with LED dome light that you are talking about? I have no problem with mine at all except a few flickering.

The white LED glow you're referring to is that eerie, purple-white. It's a very cool looking light, but not at all useful as a maplight. You need to be able to read with a maplight. It's a pretty unyielding requirement.

I know because I tried one of those 5-bulb LED's that have one forward facing bulb, and 4 splayed out around it at an angle. As I said, the light was very interesting, but not practical.

Then I tried the Polarg filament bulb, but the light was too much like the OEM bulb. Definately better, but not white enough.

What I ended up using was a single, large SMD. (Note the picture.)

The light is extremely bright; brighter than the Polarg. It also has that LED flavor, but not so much as to be impractical. It was the perfect middle-ground. They cost virtually nothing. Like $5/pair or something.

Man, this is deja vu. I just wrote about this like a week ago. Those are BA9S flank bulbs. Go to ebay and search on "ba9s flank".

They also make them with 2 SMD circuits, one on each side. Given how bright these are, another one bouncing off the aluminum back panel would be insane. I bought the single-SMD model.

i have the LEDs in my dome light and the constant glow is not an issue. It really does not nother me at all. Doesnt drain the batter because they use so little power. I love them, would never go back to regular bulbs.

I have LEDs in both the dome and map light. No glowing issues so just go for it. I'll have pics tomorrow.

i want to get LED, I just don't want the stupid thing to glow like some people said. I remember reading several people saying that when the dome light is on "door" setting, there's always a tiny amount of current going through, which makes the LEDs "glow" slightly.

If someone has an LED dome light that doesn't "glow" on the door setting, do you remember which one you got? Since V-led has like 10 different types of the dome light for our cars.

^^^ Niceee. I've got a 24-LED board in the dome. I can only imagine how bright 36 leds would be.

I have 2 36 (IIRC) in the map lights, 6 or something in the dome, and the same single leds in the visor lights....

I also get that slight amount of light coming from the LED dome light, that is because there is a constant 1.2v supplied to the switch even in the off position as well as a constant ground.

I have red gel around my maxima domelight. I am an astronomer, so need to keep white light off during a star party, or get hurt with weapons.

I have no idea what the glowing you are referring to is. I don't experience any "glowing." Heres a pic with Blue LED dome light and white LED map lights.

I hate to be that guy, but the picture has the flash on while taking it, so it will seem brighter than it actually is.
