rochester did you order just the gas pedal cover or whole assembly ? If you ordered just the cover can you keep us posted on that install please when you get it thanks. I plan on doing this as well.

Just got back from a little errand, and I have to say I like the way the pedals feel underfoot, particularly the clutch. There's no slippage at all. It's a very secure footing. Guys, the jury wasn't out long on that decision -- they're keepers.
Thanks, man. You know what's kind of funny & sad? Getting up close with the pedals made me realize there was surface rust on the clutch and brake arms. I suppose I could hand-sand, and even hand-paint for that matter. Maybe in the springtime.
I haven't ordered the gas pedal pad yet. One thing at a time. I do want it, though. Here's the thing: it's not obvious how to disassemble the OEM gas pedal pad. (Which, BTW, is not rubber, it's plastic. Go figure.)
If you use a mirror to look behind the gas pedal pad, it looks like there's a rubber retention clip at the top of the arm, and if you remove that, you could slip the pad off the post, but I'm not sure.
Has anyone ever removed/installed a gas pedal pad on the 5.5 Gen?

No, not that I can tell. You need to get your head down, and use a mirror to see behind the pad and you'll understand. The armature goes through a thick plastic loop at the top, and another one after a 90 degree bend at the bottom. I think the top one can be released by removing a thick rubber clip, but I'm not sure, and I'm not going to risk breaking the gas pedal pad trying to find out. Like I said, it's plastic.
So I'm just hoping someone chimes in with an answer. I'd like to figure that out before ordering the aluminum pad.
You know, it's possible that although the pad is available for purchase, it's designed for a different kind of armature. That seems a dumb design change, but what if Nissan pulled the entire 350z armature out of the parts bin for the HLSD Maxima, and not just the pad?
