None of the above, i unhooked the battery, left it sit like 6 hours, hooked it up, car would barely run or idle, no power, backfiring thru the intake, it was bad, limped it home and ordered a new MAF, let the battery unhooked for 8 hours, installed MAF, fired right up, purrs good, drove it, feels like a new motor, no pinging or hesitation, so far so good, iam going for a ride now and gona hit some steep grades and see if it pings, if not i beleive it was the MAF the whole time.
If you have been here long enough, you would have known that MAF is the answer almost all the time for Maxima driveability problems. We could have auto-robot replying to any topic with "it is your MAF" and he would be right more times than not :-)
Rub it in now
Light came on today........O2 sensor near firewall is toast, guess from running lean for so long it killed it.
I am going to be brutally honest with you. You have got P0430 code. Against all the advice given in this forum, you *will* go and change that O2 sensor. When the light comes back on again, you will be here screaming your head off.
Am I right, or am I right?? :-)
Seriously, what code are you getting? And this time at least listen to input from others.

Not once have i mentioned a P0430, i dont know where you got that but thats not the code i have. I had lean codes P0171 and P0174, i replaced the maf it all went away, came back on, P0138 and P0139 the O2 sensor crapped out. So yes, iam gona change that O2 sensor.
So I hate to say it but your not right.

You are right, you did not mention which code you got after changing MAF. P0138 and P0139 is saying bad rear O2 sensor. However, before throwing new rear sensor, you should rule out other causes such as lose wiring, bad ground etc.

I didnt think it would be the knock sensor, it it was it would retard the timing and go in safe mode as not to advance timing too far. I have seen so many problems cured by the infamous MAF.
