Ebay Catback exhaust.. Any good?

My exhaust is rusted through, and I need a new one. Im looking at this link.. its $100 shipped for the full catback, all stainless, and mandrel bent. looks good on paper, but don't want it to sound like crap. It has a 4" tip, which I am not fond of, but I like the price tag. Has anyone tired this setup out before, and if so, how is it? thanks.

$100 for a full cat-back? You get twhat you pay for so that sounds sketchy. Also, I think the 4in tip would look terrible, but thats just my opinion.

It's a Greddy EVO replica, you'll be fine but be sure you can handle the noise

If you want a budget cat-back check out a Tsudo exhaust on ebay. I had one on my Integra back in the day, and it was nice. Its a little more than the one you are thinking of, but at least I can tell you its good quality.

man there aint no more line than you get what u pay for on this forum it sounds decent bro, thats the catback VQmonster was using at the track event and nobody was saying nothing then, its not the most quiet i agree but at the sametime, the others arent really that quiet either... if u plan on doing a straight through 2 1/2" piping then yes it will be loud but if your using stock cat then it doesnt matter...

But a 4-inch tip? Don't buy anything you might be ashamed of.

looks the exact same as the greddy except the greddy logo on the side, and i loved my greddy, nothing to be ashamed of... i could see if you had a smaller car with a friggin 6" tip then yea, but its really not bad... i loved mines so much that i had to share it to the world lls

i think this sound quality was better than mines so, more likely the sound you should expect

Yeah, I had the Stillen 4" tip full cat with Y, and it sounded mean - I loved it. But that all rusted through, and I had to put the factory back on. Now that rusted through, and It is literally hanging. Money are really tight these days as I am sure some of you can relate, and I am looking to get out of this issue cheap. I can put up with the 4" tip.. I am getting older now and rather not have the huge tip... wanted a smaller dual tip, but beggers can't be choosers. But if it sounds half way decent, then I can live with the tip. For $100, I guess it's worth a shot if no one else has tried it out yet.

Buy it! Worst that could happen is it sounds bad and you could just weld a new muffler on.....not bad deal....especially for 100

That second video is hilarious with the bubble-text, "Steam. No worries." The first video sounds better than the second, and I think that Greddy sounds sweet.

Appearance is obviously subjective. There's a whole community of enthusiasts who do everything possible to move away from the stock look. (That isn't me, hence this opinion.)

But if you get one of those wide, single-tip exhausts, you take the Maxima into a different crowd. That's the look you see on rusty Civics with wheel spacers. Performance aside, no matter how nice the car, that wide, single-tip muffler screams tacky.

It isn't pretty. Don't do it, man. Get something with a dual-tip.

Or buy the cat-back, and custom fit a Borla muffler on the end. I've always wondered how difficult it would be to get a Borla on the Maxima.

the first video is my old 00 with the greddy, i understand ur statement, however im more open to all exhaust style and also civic's (im actually about to get a 92) yes you prefer the dual tips, (which is what i have now also.......... EBAY) both sounds great and actually looks good on a maxima

ebay dual tip

Greddy

they both look good

While I lean heavily to a stock preference, I have to admit your red-tail, debadged, spoiler-delete look in the second photo is very clean and attractive. Nice job, Mr. Hustle.

Except the soupcan, which says, "It's me making all that noise. Look at me."

I probably had a different opinion decades years ago - can't remember. (And back in 1990, I also owned a Civic! Fun car, great mileage. But no soupcan.)

Picture: Cattman dual-tip.

I completely agree. I much rather have a dual tip then anything! But price is a concern for me right now... mortgage payment, or better muffler... hmm. hah. But, even with the 4" tip, it looks a lot better IMO if you have the Stillen rear lip - it hides the muffler, and the tip isn't as exposed like in the above pictures, so it doesn't look out of place as much.

Everyone has a regret-car... the one you should have kept. For me it was a 1992 Nissan 240SX Coupe. Loved that little coupe.

Silvermax2k2, even if you're not getting exactly the exhaust you want, at least you're planning a better performing exhaust than stock, and for far less money. I hope it works out for you.

you pay for what you get... doesn't sounds like a good buy. I would do some more research see if you can find a better one.

got it anyways since there was a hole in my b-pipe where the flange is(big enough to make it sound crappy). I know, sorry excuse to get it, but I bit. The workmanship is good, mandrel bends, mig welded, and it has a 16" resonator(too small IMHO). The exhaust is made to work together, as in, the length of the b-pipe lends itself only to their axle back, unless you want the b-pipe to be constantly touching on various parts of the car.

Now, the axleback supplied with it lets out a sound that is well, one word, ricer-esque (if you have an aftermarket y-pipe like I do). It may very well sound different If you have it sans y-pipe. The sound is going to give me nightmares(i really hate that coffee-can sound) The tone was much deeper when I used the aftermarket axleback I originally had on, but it would cause the b-pipe to hit(axleback tubing was shorter length).

I am ultimately going to keep the b-pipe on, but probably hack off the muffler, and have a new one put on. I am going to go back to my stock muffler so I can sleep in peace, and not cheapen my car with that crappy sound(since I have worked to seperate myself from the "ricer" crowd, IMHO.) In the meantime, the max will sit, and collect dust, as I refuse to drive the car with that sound coming out of it. my poor baby!!

true, but loud AND raspy is something I cannot live with. I will probably go tomorrow to have the old muffler welded into the existing piping.

NAPA has the entire Bosal Oem exhaust if you want to stay stock like...Or invest into Cattman's Catback, or Megan Racing ...it's your choice! I sure hope you got that Ebay exhaust since it's gone now!

or, you can just buy a 30" resonator and have a shop install it... 16" is what most companies use for our cattbacks however i do give credit where its due, cattman uses 22"

Were you able to get a sound clip of the exhaust while you had it installed? if so, can you post it up? thanks!
