Where can I find this little part?

So...You know that little mounting plate that is glued to the inside of the windshield? The one the rear view mirror mounts to? It appears that part has come unglued from the windshield and the mirror is just hanging there suspended by the wire (it's the auto-dim mirror.) Anyone know where I can get this little plate or what adhesive is used to hold it to the glass? I checked Courtesy's website and they have that little bracket marked as "Not For Sale."

Thanks,
Jim

Go to AutoZone or any auto parts store. They should have a little kit to stick the plate onto the glass. I remember I had to buy 1 for my '91 Dodge Spirit when I the original adhesive wasn't sticky anymore.

Thanks,
Unfortunately, upon closer inspection (and whole lot of "WTF?"s) it appears that the mounting plate didn't come unglued. Rather, the whole assembly pulled a chunk of glass out of the windshield.
See?

Oh boy! New windshield time!

Definitely new windshiled time. In my state there is a law that mandate the windshields to be replaced, at absolutely no cost to the insured, whenever its integrity has been compromised by a crack or something similar. If that is the case in your state, you are in luck.

Not sure about the state law here. I'd be surprised if Indiana had such a law.

On the upside, my wife reminded me that we had actually had that windshield replaced about 3 years ago after a rock hit and cracked it. We found the receipt for the work and it clearly says the windshield has a lifetime warrantee against defects. I'd say this constitutes a defect. Anyway, here's hoping they agree.
