??? Re: Factory Alarm System
There's been alot of break-ins in my n-hood lately....go figure.
Lots of smash-&-grab window jobs, where they use a brick or something heavy to simply bust-out a side-window....
Question is this: Does the OEM Nissan Alarm system ACTIVATE when a window is broken-out?
Or does it simply protect against intrusion thru the DOORS while the alarm is active??
Seems that ALOT of Honda/Toyota owners are finding-out that their alarms are USELESS against such tactics.
thks,

IIRC No it doesn't have glass sensors or a knock sensor so if they broke the window and never unlock the door from the inside the alarm wouldn't go off. I don't think most cars have these stock you would have to upgrade your system

Odd.
TWO maximas, and I never even gave ONE thought as to how the Alarm works....or DOESn'T work.
I don't leave much in my car of any value due to the constant break-ins -- but at least I now understand what my alarm DOESn'T do.
Thks for the confirmation.

how they work!
your factory alarm system works like this.. your alarm is triggered by your door triggers or dome light supervisioning (ie. those little plunger buttons in the door jambs.) and also your alarm can only be armed or disarmed by the keyfobs, the doorlock switch on the drivers door and on some vehicles with the key in the drivers door keycylinder. the other part of your security system on your car if its a maxima is the immobilizer system with the transponder keys.. yea those 150.00 keys!! that have to be programmed by the dealer.. and finally if u do install an aftermarket alarm system such as viper or any other brand. they do not incorperate the factory alarm system in some cases. that depends on the vehicle ..

I have a alarm sticker on my window...So Im going to throw a brick in my window to see if my alarm goes off. haha jk. I learned my lesson from my old car after the 4th break in . i just put everything in my glove box and Lock it. nothing else valuable.
