Just a general RANT and RAVE...

This thread might come off as pointless, but I just need to get this off my chest. Well, prior to purchasing my Max, I had the BIGGEST POS car I have ever owned. A 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protégé, or Protegay. This car was a true straight-up-piece-of-crap. It was one problem after another, literally. The thousands of dollars I wasted just trying to fix this stupid car. I was also a member of Mazdas247.com (probably the largest Mazda enthusiast forum/community on the net...basically a bunch of babies if you ask me). Anyway, it got to the point where I was so fed up with this car that I would sometimes complain while trying to explain the issues. And let me tell you...I have never seen SOOOOO many people get personally offended over a car. I mean even as bad as death threats. I felt I was beyond justified for my complaints because I had nothing but issues...Anyway, my Maxima which has HIGH mileage and is basically totaled, was the best decision of my life when I traded my POS Mazda in for it. Since September of 2008 (when I got it) I haven't had any issues with it, and with only a Cattman cat-back exhaust I bet it would have smoked my Mazda (and considering I had about $3500-$4000 worth of performance parts in it too!) any day of the week. So I am just letting it be known that I absolutely LOVE my MAXIMA and will never ever own a Mazda as long as I live...

If your screen name was Chuck Norris you wouldn't have those problems...

I love my maxima too, but I don't have anything against Mazdas. My roommate has a 2003 Protege5 5spd, and has absolutely zero problems with it over the three years he's owned it. Sounds like you just got a lemon. Tough luck, I guess.

Nothing against Mazdas here either, what problems were you having with them?

Maxima FTW.

Well, my biased opinion is based partially on the fact that a Mazda is basically a Ford (I've had trouble with all the Fords I have ever owned).

What I love about the Maxima is even to this day, when I browse Car & Driver and other car mags...I noticed our car keeps up with most of the competition if not totally demolishing them...

QFT.

Went through 3 WGA's, an LSD, a turbo, axle, could never seem to get it to hold the right boost, the block's on those cars are very unreliable. Been known to even throw a rod at the factory 6-6.5 psi. Really crappy motor mounts. The car would always hit fuel cut. Never idled correctly. It sounded like a DAMN Panzer. Car ran super rich so I had a Split Second .V2 air/fuel controller. It was hooked up fine, numbers read correctly, but didn't solve the other ongoing issues. Tried 2 different TB's, 2 IACV's, 2 TPS's, a new Walbro fuel pump, numerous sets of spark plugs, junk bushings, a bad MAF, 2 bad calipers which I could not find the correct one either, rear bumper lip would always sag down, that's all I can think of at the moment....and YES, I bought the car with only 27k, and it was BONE stock.

Kind of the same thing on mazda626.net. You complain about problems (like the pressurized coolant overflow tanks that would start to leak after a year) and some of them acted like you called their wife a really bad name that woman hate to hear.

They seemed to take offense to the fact that I just got "fed-up" with the car. I gave it a chance, but you can only take so much until you end up hating the car. What really did it was the few times I had to call out of work because my car broke down on my way to work. That really pissed me off!

The first and only other Maxima I ever owned was an 87 ghetto-fab version though.

What really got me hooked was how my friend's 1990 Maxima had over 300,000 miles on with very minimal repairs and regular maintenance. And to add to that, he use to beat on the car too!!!

Most of the people on Mazdas247.com are these wise-*** teenage punks that talk all that garbage knowing they are protected behind their computer. They probably check the avatar area first to make sure I'm not within an "arms reach" just in case I would retaliate...
