We Know of Yellow Fogs -- But What About Amber?
Was curious as to what you guys thought about amber colored fogs? I'll be in need of fogs soon and am debating between H3 Lexus capsules and lamin-xing the glass housing yellow or finding amber bulbs (if they exist) and lamin-xing the glass housing amber (like the CTS-V's below).
The fogs would glow more than shine I think, which is the look I'd want. I don't think we have too many fans of amber lighting here, but I'd figure I'd see youre guys's input. Thanks

arent the fogs on the cts-v's the lights right under the amber ones? i think the amber is more of a running light or drl of some sort.
the yellow doesnt look so bad imo, esp with a 3000k hid kit, but if ur going with a glow rather than light output, then a laminx might not be a bad way to go or the lexus caps.

thats right, the amber pictured there is not the fogs.
I have seen a truck or two with what appeared to be actuall amber fogs. IMO It looks odd, And am skeptical of any worthy output in general, let alone in our fogs.

Just thinking about the color amber (orange) in general, a lot of people on here try to get rid of that color (ie. clearing front amber blinkers, clearing amber bumper lights, red overlays on the amber tail light blinker, etc.)
I think a lot of people (including myself) just arent fans of the amber color and I dont think the functionality of it is benefical over the yellow. So personally, I will be sticking to the yellow.
Give it a shot though and post some pics. Maybe it would help the other amber lights flow with the car better.

I think I'm the only a33 owner who likes the amber in the corner of the headlight.
I think i'm the only one who doesnt like yellow fogs. Every SRT-4, MS3, civic, etc. has yellow fogs... It's the latest fad for all the little rice rockets in my area.
I have matching hids in the headlights and fog lights, output is awsome and people say they love it better than the yellow.
Be different, do the amber. It doesnt matter what anyone says, if you like it, do it.

But I do have yellow capsules in my foglights... I'm almost over them though. Almost makes the car look older these days.

yea thats a reason i plan on doing it..i dont expect great output with the amber, with the yellow i have now, ihave no output..so it wont matter..the 6ks are doing their job anyway *thumbs up*

Thanks everyone for the input! I just posted the CTS pictures as a reference. I realize they are not in fact fogs...but the color was on and the location of the lights was as close as I could find to fogs. If worse comes to worse, I can take of the lamin-x and switch out the lexus capsuls! I'm going to give this a try and see what yields. I like the fact that it hasn't been done yet. Lets hope for the best.

100 times better (as seen in your sig). Plus, you have the sidemarkers right there to match them. I figure, if I have them above the headlight, on the side of the headlight, I think I should finish the theme off by having them below the headlight.

How's it going on your amber-fog ambitions?
I've thought about this many times over the years, but never did anything about it. I'm thinking the amber in the marker and driving lights would match well with amber in the fogs, either lights on or off.
So... any progress? Any pictures?
It would be nice if Lamin-x offered Amber. It would be worth the $20 to experiment with the look.

Found a 4th gen with the same idea. Pics courtesy of babyboydaa1
I'll be looking for more of a glow than a shine, but this is what it should look like. I'll be purchasing a new R fog lamp, and as soon as that happens, the ambers are going in.

Well, I came across some amber LED's that are apparently PnP w/ the H3 connections. These seeme to be the exact orange I am looking for. Any input?

Indeed. It'll be cosmetic. No real fog here in AZ (not much anyway). I just want them to serve as an accent to the HID's. I'll go ahead and purchase these as soon as I can find a right side OEM fog for a decent price...

thanks for the link homie

lol well looks like we will be posting our ambers here quite soon..ive been wanting ambers..i even have a HID provider for them..only guy that said he could get em...so if these look pretty good im going to save up and get amber HIDs

Nah, the guys site says a max of 2 weeks since he's shipping somewhere out of Asia. I'll give it another week, and if nothing, I'll e-mail him. If these are just too dull, I might have to PM you about your ninja-secret amber HID provider...

I'm going to wait until I install the H3 LED's in the fogs before I check out the amber LED corner lights. If the fogs look good, they will be matched indeed. Should be receiving the LEDs in a week or so. I'll keep you guys updated.

Got the fogs in last night. Minor modifications needed to get them to fit. They're about a half an inch longer than the H3 bulbs, so I had to bend the glare shield all the way down and move it out of the way so they could fit. I also had to take a needle nose to the female connection of the wire and close it a bit because the male end of the wire connection is thinner. Overall, I like it. I need to switch out my running lights to a true amber now (probably LEDs) so that might sidemarkers, fogs and running lights all match.
Here are some pictures:
Output comparison, obvious differences:
No real output, but that's ok, this was a cosmetic mod:
Next up, a definite fog-rewire.
