'00 Tranny swap - stock exhaust: What's gonna break in the swap?
Should I at all expect that my Y pipe is going to bust during the 4at tranny swap of my Super Black '00 GXE? ...it has 85k NY miles.
Or will something else probably give out, like amount, or a bracket that doesn't like to budge?
I've got just enough cash to cover the quote for the swap. Normally I'd have no fear of an overage, but I'm a little strapped this quarter.

Why would the Y break if you're not going to touch it to swap the trans?
There's no way to say what may or may not be damaged during the install. Are you doing it yourself?
Be careful, and try not to break anything. Problem (mostly) solved.

lol!!
Due to my lack of knowledge of layout, I was inferring that parts of the upper exhaust would end up needing to be removed and given that this area of some other cars is among the first to weaken, I feared breakage.
I'm having a shop do it. I think. I'm not confident that I have the proper tooling. No air compressor... $550 that I'd rather spend on something else.
Mind you, I've rebuilt carbs, ripped apart and rebuilt ancient suspensions on trucks, I've done plenty of brake and axle work ( & lots of wiring), but I fear the daunting-ness of a tranny replacement... oh and I had a bad dream where my torque converter wouldn't stop trying to land on my head while trying to position it. jk
