Winter blend? Tell me more. Summer has hotter air and will take less time for the car to get up to temp=better gas mileage. right??

They have different blends for summer and winter, mostly emissions related.

My wheel bearing was bad, makeing the disc rub on the brake pad. Only made the noise when I back-up. Also when my wife drives, she always has the a/c on. Make sure your a/c clutch is o.k , I have not heard of a problom in maximas, but I have another car that did.

I think the most I've ever gotten was ~320 from really easy driving.

Most I've got to 1/4 tank was 100 driving between 35-70 mph on route 33

At home I'm lucky to get 300 to a tank..

Don't some gasolines in the states have up to 10% ethenol (often undeclared) that decreases your gas mileage by varying amounts depending on who you "talk to".

Ethenol blends will slightly decrease mileage since alcohol does not produce as much power by volume as gasoline. Thats why alcohol dragsters double the size of the jets in their carburators. Why run alcohol then? It burns cooler and it more resistant to detonation. You can run much higher compression ratios, like 14:1. You just have to use twice as much fuel but when you use it a quarter mile at a time, it isn't a huge deal.

thanks for the replies guys. Apparently im not the only one in my area getting bad mileage, almost every one of my friends that I asked noticed a decrease in gas...im going to blame it on the winter months. However, my poor max has been in the shop getting its tranny fixed. that thing finally gave up on me...=(

I'll bring this badboy back to life.

The computer used to tell me I was getting on average 30mpg with my 3.5 back when gas was $4+

Since the drop in gas back down to the $2's I've noticed that my mpg is down to about 25mpg.

You guys smell a conspiracy?
