Alright Max sages, I know you are never supposed to believe the intarwebz, but I found this bit of info on wikipedia that I found odd about our 5th gens (or at least the 2000 Maxima)...

The 2000 Maxima (designated A33) which shares a chassis found surprisingly on the Nissan Skyline BNR34 the 4-door model which the Exhaust system was derived from the GT-R.
Does this mean that the exhaust system is derived from the GT-R, or Nissan gave us the R34 chassis and screwed us out of the RB?

sort of...the chassis is like the cefiro, same with our engine...we dont have the turbo like the early versions of the cefiros do though...the cefiro in japan is essentially a 4door skyline

So are we talking similar enough to grab a RB25 and make a direct swap, or just being able to get chassis pieces from the R34?

No. The RB is a longitudinally mounted Inline 6. And there is a large difference between the R34 and the A33 cefiros...no way you're gonna be putting any RB in a maxima.

Well, can we at least get certain suspension components from the R34?

you would need a whole new rear end, new DRIVETRAIN, engine, ecu, and the fab work would cost tens of thousamds of dollars. It would not be cost effective at all.

You could buy a used 350z, and competley build it with 1000whp and still have spent less money than some idiot trying to fit an rb in a maxima.

No, I like the way the Max looks (5th gens are the best, IMO)... The Skyline is a to be considered a Nissan God. Anyone who tries to make a max or any other car other than an R34 look like an R34 should be publicly castrated and shot in the face.

BTW, these questions arose from reading that article. I am in no way a ricer. I just was wondering since wikipedia made it seem like the only difference was the engine/drivetrain. I like the VQ30 and think it is a nice little piece of work. I plan on making my car a sleeper...

I just leave the Max alone as it is. Just save enough money to buy a GT-R. I plan to get mine, a year after the release, since no way I'm gonna buy it when hit the states cuz it's too much money and from what I got from my source, that Nissan will only offer a one year warranty on first model year, due to the implication that People will buy it and turn it around and sell it on a black market for more money, thus voiding warranty. So Nissan will have the full warranty on the second year model. as the usual 3yr and 5yr/60k

The air nozzle caps on the tires may be the same, but I have no proof.
