GAB - minus the ghetto

I am not even sure what that mod was called except I saw two scoops GAb, which caught my attention.

that was me....and the gains were "slight" indeed (~2whp) with 4 holes, and about 1whp with all 8 holes open. I had it set up so I could have the holes all open, partially open, and completely closed. There wasn't much difference between the three on the dyno...the difference could just as easily been a standard margin of error on a dyno.
Keep in mind I also had a Cattman ypipe and Frankencar catback...so the extra intake flow was worth more than it might be on a stock exhaust...

positives are much deeper tone which sounds sooo good! and maybe 1hp. just remove the filter holder and use an modified coat hanger like mentioned in this thread, i run it this way in the winter (GAB is my winter intake setup) and its just fine. negatives well to me there arent any but the filter will get dirtier faster. i have a K&N so i just clean it and get the lube kit for it every winter.

I read the GAB how-to that was posted a few days ago on here and I'm pretty excited about trying it out this weekend.
My only concern is summertime performance, which some people have discussed. I live in North Carolina, but I'll be down in Houston for the summer, where I hear you can pretty much drink the air. Will this heat and humidity have any effect on the GAB intake?

who needs a video to drill some holes in plastic?
Step 1: find drill and 1 1/4" bit
Step 2: start drilling holes in the plasic on the under side of the filter (DO NOT DRILL HOLES ON THE TOP HALF WHERE THE MAF CONNECTS)

heres a more advanced way http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/max...to-airbox.html
Like tigersharkdude said, not much of a DIY required. Get a 1 1/4" drill bit (i used a paddle bit - worked great), pull the air filter holder out of the car, and drill the holes.
Or.....I have one for sale with 4 holes already drilled. LMK if you are interested. Really just looking to get rid of it.

Hey guys, I did the GAB with 4 holes today, and it just doesn't growl as loud or as deep as I taught it would. And Its not very much louder than stock imo. Do you guys think if i drill all 8 holes it would be louder??
