I'm about to do this motor mount job and got to thinking about the rad support rust. Mine isn't rusted terrible and yet things can be worse when you get it disturbed.

This rust and the bolts could make this job go south on me really fast, I presume??? If I can't get the x/member reattached properly then I'd have to get it towed for the rad support fix, correct?

Wondering if I would be better off paying a body shop to weld in angle iron and then at the same time just swap my mounts?

Post photos of the core support from underneath. Get a few good ones and from different angles.

Yes, not as nice as a full replacement but a heck of a lot cheaper.

Seems like that would be a viable alternative??

I realize full replacement is best but I don't at this point understand why a solid "scab" that significantly overlaps the lwr piece wouldn't suffice.

I am unable to do a full replacement myself and although I don't have quotes I assume a shop price is 800-$1000 in my ripoff salt infected michigan.

Yeah. Will let u know what I come up with since I need to fix the motor mount issue and exhaust leak that appears to be flex pipe.

I pretty much have to fix it somehow.

It's a load-bearing structure. It certainly warrants some action. Too bad you didn't live near krismax, that guy can have a core support replaced blindfolded in about an hour lol

East coast somewhere up north. RI or NY if I recall. I don't remember specifically. He's around on the forum. He's done a ton of them. The core support master!
