Update. I had the work done this morning. TDS Transmission. It worked!! The 1-2 shift is crisp, the 2-3 flare is gone and its just super smooth. I watched the whole thing, no way I would ever attempt this. There are quite a few parts. The total cost was $300. Well worth it. Service was great.
TDS is installing mine as well on Thurs. So did you get the normal kit or the HD2 kit? I got the normal one.

$300 labor and ATF? That is quite reasonable. The FSM's solution is a new valve body that that runs $1200 alone.

I have the normal kit. The gasket was never even mentioned and at that point I was out in the waiting area so I dont know what they used. The more I drive it the more I like it. Seems to down shift faster, all around better feel. (And I realize it could all be in my mind!!)
hmm this is so tempting. Those "manul shifts" are really bugging me out. Anyone know a good transmission place in NY ( preferably long island) who know how to do this install?

well just multiply his positive feedback x 3...lol. here's a pretty terrible quality video of the transgo kit installed. FFWD to 3:18. i will try and post an updated one tonite. u probably cant hear the tires chirping from the 1-2 shift.
There is one in the kit but Im not sure if you want to use it. Its kind of folded around the inside of the box to make it fit.
the one in the kit is fine, but you can still use your old one if it isn't damaged.
I have built these, so if anyone has any questions about the kit or install, I'll be happy to answer. I'm currently working on a proper review with video, so people who are interested, let me know what you would like to see.

correct me if im wrong her but if the trans is slipping that much there is prob something wrong and a shift kit would be a band aid to the real problem

It can help, it depends on why and how bad it is slipping. In any case, if you do need a rebuild, you will still have a transgo vb providing much better shifts.
Had this kit installed today along with new shift selenoids. Made a huge difference, no more slip. It is only a bandaid solution though.
Reason why these cars slip is the 3rd gear clutch seals shrink over time and cause a loss of pressure inside the tranny. Increasing line pressure in the VB with the transgo kit is a good way to prolong the life of your tranny, but the damage has been done. And eventually, the problem will resurface again...just might take a year or so before the slip returns. I'm glad to have bought myself some time to source out a 6spd swap at my convenience. Oh, and my info comes from a very well known Nissan master tech up here in Toronto. Many people can vouch for him on torontomaxima.com as well as in the Canadian section of G35driver.com.

Dont know who makes it, there seems to me a few out there. Ive never been one for additives. He said to go to Canadian Tire and get one that 'conditions internal and external seals'.

Using the Lucas ATF additive this fall made a noticable difference this winter, much less slip than the previous winter.
Haterz-sure thing. Got to get my car through inspection first-changed the bank 1 rear O2 to fix a P0037 code and 65 miles later, it pops a P0420. Reset the code and it hasn't come back on yet, but both EVAP and CAT are showing "not ready" on my code reader.

You can't change those specific seals unless you drop the tranny, it even says so in the instructions that come with the kit. My tech says if you're gonna replace those seals, might as well rebuild the rest of it while it's apart.
so the cheapest i found the transgo kit was fro like 60 bucks.. i would just need to find someone to do it for me.. lol

your tech is correct, the tranny has to be literally completely disassembled to install the seals included with the reprogramming kit. might as well rebuild it while its apart.

That's intended for the A33B trans. It should work, but personally I'd swap it out for the right one.

if you go to the transgo site, there is the section called DISTRIBUTORS... then go to the state of Maryland "md"
the 3rd one down is Transtar industries. that is the one that is selling for close to 55 bucks. That is where i'm gonna purchase mine next week and if your near the Northern Virginia area, B and T motorsports is charging only 200 bucks to do the install. they do just about everything. small shop, but a great one. very trustworthy.
obviously if you cant come in this area, at least you can get the kit for around 55 bucks!

That is the correct kit for your valve body. I've installed several in 5th gens including my own RE4F04W.
you know, i realized i just want that delayed shift from 2-3 gone... i dont mind how it shifts any other gear.. which is pretty quick... i'm assuming that fixes that.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but did anyone install a cooler as well? I've noticed the hesitance in shifting but only under WOT or close to it.
Someone installed a transmission cooler on their 5.5 gen and it made the cold weather slip worse-and the car only had 15k on it. I found the thread a while back in the fluids forum.
Tranny coolers aren't needed unless your gonna spend all day at the strip. The shift kit is going to actually increase fluid flow throw the tranny helping itself to stay cooler. That's at least what the guy in the tranny shop was telling me when I asked about a cooler.
