SES After new MAF?

I put in a New MAF and I am getting an SES light. There was no light on until i took a trip to a town about 70 miles from here. I will get the codes pulled, but could this be due to the fact that I dont have the latest firmware and this maf was a newer p/n?

According to a service manager I talked to when I put my new mass air in, it could throw a code if you don't have the right software.

Did you pull the code?

I'll be curious to know too as I ran into the same problem. I threw code P0420 after a new MAF.

No SES for me when I installed a new MAF. Just pull the code and see what it is.

Did you replace the complete MAF assembly (the sensor and the housing) or just the sensor? It is very important to obtain the correct MAF, including matching the sensor with the housing. I believe Nissan still only sells the "assemblies". There was a variation with different P/Ns related to the inside diameter and profile of the MAF housings. I don't believe that there have been many "updates" for these cars.......BUT, there were one or more SBs issued quite awhile ago that may apply, and these SBs listed what P/Ns of MAFs (assemblies) had to be used for the particular ECM P/N that was in the car. There was some ECM updates related to ECM P/N and MAF P/N combinations mentioned in those SBs if I remember correctly.

The correct P/N for the updated DE-K MAF is:

22680-2Y001

This is the P/N that was on the box that the MAF came in, so I believe that is what it is. I will get the nissan dealership to pull the code as soon as I get the new clutch/flywheel in.

Before replacing MAF, SES P0171. Engine stalls after cold start.

After replacing MAF, SES P0140. Engine stalls at traffic lights, especially after warm start.

Any thoughts?
