My bad luck continues

I just changed my ECU/ECM at last to fix my idle problem. Bought the unit from junk yard and had it installed by the dealer. Thought I saved some dollars there. New ECM seems to be ok. But after thorough check up by the dealer they said my transmission is in bad shape. 123000 KM only. They wanted to change the oil and filter to be sure. Done. But problem is still there. According to them the transmission is clogged. They quoted 3000$ for new one or 2400$ form junk yard. Just my luck. Any suggestions?

I have 105k on my 2000 GLE and my understanding is that there is a small motor in the transmission that can get clogged. It is akin to a vacuum module. Can anyone verify this? They go out and you think its tranny when it's not. Mine is acting a little strage on downshift at slow speeds clunks hard.

it could be your TCM, I had to replace a few of them before on 5th gens. Lots of times it shows simtoms of a bad tranny but its all in electronics. Give it a shot, much cheaper that putting a new tranny in it.

Hi jasonmax. My problem started 2 months ago when one day i realized my car doesn't start. Took it to a garage. They said my crank shaft sensor wasn't working. 1 week after i changed it my car engine was shtting down in every single stops and red lights. Took it back and now this time it was Idle Control Valve. Changed but the machanic said there some other problem in the car which he wasn't able to fix. The moment i took the car from the garage i found that my RPM was going up and down and lack power. But the engine wasn't shutting down. Took it to dealer. The dealer said something is wrong with the ECM and transmission also needs to be checked. Changed ECM but problem with RPM and lack of power is still there. The dealer says now the computer is fine but Transmission is dieing which is why this is happeing. All this started whithen last 2 months. The car had no problem prior to that. It's just my luck.

Could very possibly be your MAF...have you looked into that?

Didn't think about MAF....but if the dealer is so sure...even said they were able to see physical indication that the trany is bad. I'll take it to another garage for a second thought.

Yeah take a second opinion.

But if it's your original MAF then try new one. One of my friend had an Altima with similar problems like yours and it turned out MAF was culprit.
