Just graduated from 4th gen to 5th gen today...

I had a 97 SE for 2 months and it got totalled so I was on the look out for a 5th gen and found own in Portland, OR, 2.5 hours away, and went and got it today. Its a 2000 SE Leather and everything with a 5 speed, as you all know they are hard to find. This one has 121k miles and was listed for $4995 which in the Northwest is a steal.

I went and looked at it today and found out why, it was a small custom dealership that was selling it for a personal friend. The friend owned a rather large nursery and business was bad so he stopped driving it and parked it for a while. Well being parked at the nursery it was in a dirt driveway and got dirt everywhere and rock chips all over the rear passenger quarter panel.

I think it sat for close to 2 years, tabs were from feb 2011. It was detailed but you can see dirt in heater vents. Also has that musky smell from sitting. They had it listed for $6995 then $5995 and finally $4995 so $4700 was as low as he would go. In the area finding one with that low of miles and loaded for that price i figured having to clean it up and deal with some cosmetic stuff was the only way I would get what I wanted for under $5k.

Also paid $3400 for my 97 SE with 180k and no leather so for $1300 more I think I got a pretty good deal.

Here is a link to my Facebook folder with some pics.

Look forward to being in this part of the forums for a while now

Joe

Nice find, however if you drove even farther north, Up to Vancouver canada, there is a few with 100,000 KM (60k miles) for around 6k

I wouldn't call it a graduation until you have a VQ35. Nice find though. 5th gen looks super clean.

$5000 for a 121k miles 5th gen?.... Way too high imo... 3.5yrs ago I paid $4100 for 117k, at $5000 that in the 5.5 6mt area... Might of been the better buy but reliable motor I'll say lol... Congrats

I like the car. About the price I have no idea what it goes for in your area.

Ive been looking for prob 6 months and I could find these cars in california all day for $4000 but it would take me 2 days and a $600-800 to get it here. Look on autotrader and there are tons in florida and east coast or midwest for cheap but not northwest. I dont know why just is.

Nice pickup! For some reason, good max's are expensive...same as Outbacks.

Looks good!!!

but i wouldn't consider a VQ35 graduating if you have to add oil every couple weeks, ive heard all the "its worth it" arguments but its the principle of you shouldnt have to, but like i said, thats me.

Great choice; I too prefer 5th gen DE-K.

I have the exact model you do (same color too) and it took me a LONG time to find it. Bought mine with 149k and I couldn't find any (5spds) that weren't at some ****ty private dealer asking $5495-7999. Took me a long time to find mine too.

Nice looking car, I've always been a huge fan of that shade of gray. My car sat for a really long time before I bought it and half the paint had a sandpaper-like feel to it and looked matte instead of glossy. It is pretty amazing how nasty paint gets on a car if it sits for a long time. (it makes sense, but still pretty cool how the dirt bonds so tightly with the paint)

Any plans on mods or anything for it yet?

Any rust in the rear wheel arches or the lower radiator support?
