6speed gearsets and HLSD
Has anybody added the HLSD to their 6speed trans. AAMCO is rebuilding the trans and replacing 2nd and 3rd gearsets which I didn't even know you could get. I'd like to add the HLSD while they have it apart does anybody have a price on it or one laying around they wanna sell.

No kidding, The HLSD makes this car.
Instead of a rebuild you should look into a used 04 tranny. They don't have the syncro problems like the 02/03 and you can find them with the HLSD. I found mine in Canada on car-part.com for around $850 shipped with 40,000 miles on it. I sold my old gearbox to a rebuild shop for $150.

If anybody ever needs a cheap alternative to a new Trans. I just had mine done at AAMCO total cost was 2000 bucks to replace all the bearings, sleeves, seals and 2nd and 3rd gearsets. Unfortunately the warrantly company would not allow me to upgrade to a HLSD so I got screwed on that one. Gear set prices were 300 each so if you only needed 3rd looks like you could have a shop get it done for around 1500. I wish my warrantly would have let nissan do the job they were gonna slap in a brand new HLSD tranny for only 800 bucks more.

Yes but that does not include the $1000 worth of labor they charged to pull and rebuild it. That's why I stated $300 for a gear set and you can do it yourself. I've heard of too many people replacing the trans for $2000 bucks just for parts because 3rd gear went out. Never have I seen any threads geared toward rebuilding one. It's so easy and I haven't found a dealer that would even list a gearset. Like I said for about 800 bucks I could have had a brand new HLSD trans but it wasn't my money being spent.
