Drivers Seat not working

Last year my driver's seat stopped moving forward, and of course I got quoted by the dealer for like a grand to fix. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into issues with the seats, and if it was just a quick wiring fix or something else. Oh ya and now the heating element is out as well in the seat portion.

idk about the heat, but hit the motor (which is in the front of the seat on the underside) with something, ie hammer. it will work again. mine "went out" when i got my car in sept of 06, hit it once and it has been working since.

There is a "TSB" on the power seat issue, it calls for replacing the seat slide motor kit, depending on your year, check the "TSB" thread on here.

I don't understand why you people go straight to the dealership in matters like these. It breaks my heart.

Anyway, the seat motor is located underneath your left thigh. If it's insanely hot it means that it's about to go. I had the same problem so I just took a hammer to it and it started working again.

G'luck.

Yep...my drivers seat motor went out too. Luckily, I had an extended warranty on my I30 so it was covered.

yea i took a hammer to my motor on my drivers side seat, it stopped going UP/DOWN at the front of the seat...Its been working ever since, If it stops working again, ill HIT THE JUNKYARDS, its not worth it at the dealer....plus my car didn't have heated seats, so if i PAID A GRAND per seat....HEATED SEATS ARE A MUST

I don't mean to post hijack, but since you guys have had seat motor issues you may have the answer to my minor problem.

The rear half of the seat won't raise or lower. I have looked at the FSM and as I see it there is one motor for sliding forward/reverse and another motor to raise/lower the seat. The front of the seat will raise/lower but the rear won't budge up or down.

Does this sound like a this a switch issue or a motor?

I had the issue with a switch causing the front of the seat not to move up and down. It would move if I had the rear going up or down as well. It magically fixed itself when I performed the tsb to fix the drivers side lateral seat movement while making turns.

fyi, these seats are very sharp. Ended up slicing my finger, stabbing my toe and putting two scratches on the driver's side passenger door just trying to fix my seat. So, be careful.
