Not always. Pulling can also be caused from tires. A "radial pull" from a separated belt. I would check the tires if I were you.

Glad you got it fixed. As mentioned previously, it took me a few weeks and about 10 trips to the tire shop to convince them to replace the tires. When they finally did I could stop hating my car and start hating the tire shop. Enjoy the ride.

Hello,

New here... Been lurking for a while, did some searches and no answer to my question. and I can't start my own thread yet.

I just changed the front rotors and pads over the weekend. Everything went well. Wheels are just as balanced as before, except that the brakes still feel spongy, so I decided to bleed them the following day. Removed the front wheel to gain access to bleeder. Okay, realized it wasn't required. But now, after I put the tire back on the second time, I now have steering wheel shake between 100-110km/h. I removed the front wheels, shifted it over one lug nut and tigthened again and then a little harder, and harder using star method. Same thing. I'm clueless as to what I did wrong. I removed tires a punch a times, but never ended up making them unbalanced.

TIA!

Well buddy,
You now have a vibration @ 62mph! Seems like a tire balance problem if it is between 55-70 mph! I would take the car over to a tire shop and let them balance/check balance of all your wheel/tires....

Does anyone have an idea what I could have done wrong by just removing and putting the wheel back on again? Never happened before. Just seems weird that I screwed something up the 2nd time around. Thanks.

Okay, I swapped the rear wheel with the front wheel and the vibration is gone. Who knows, maybe the vibration got sent to the rear but it doesn't matter anymore. Driving is the same now before changing the brakes. I'm satisfied now.

That sounds like you have a bad tire with shifting belts! One of their characteristics is loss of balance and they love to follow... road cracks, grooves and pavement expansion joint lines!

I just went through 2 sets of tires, number of trips to tire shop for wheel balance, new rotors and pads but vibration still exist. I will start replacing suspension parts now to find the source

ok I see it's a 2001...What kinda vibration are you experiencing? During braking, 55-75 mph, all the time, what are the details?

Vibration 50mph and up.

If it was only during braking, that would be an easy solution.

What brand tires are these? Brand new? And since the vibe starts at 50 mph, where does it stop on smoothen out? Have you checked for a bent wheel? Have you noticed any humming or groaning noise, a possible bad front axle bearing? Please give me more info.....

Like I said earlier, I went through 2 new sets of different brand tires so I seriously doubt it's the tires. Rims are not bent. Rotors and pads are new. I don't have humming/ticking noise. Vibration doesn't smooth out. It gets worse 50 and up. Replacing the entire front end suspension soon. Will move to the rears afterwards.

Thanks for the info which wasn't listed b4...What are the brands of tire? You never stated! How are you sure the wheels aren't bent? You looked using a runout guage or did the tire shop check your wheels runout using their equipment? Check your tie rodends, inner and outer for play, ball joints and your LCA bushings! Have you had and oil leaks ever? Have you jacked your car up and inspected the front suspension? Have you front axles been removed or working on lately? Are you mechanically inclined or challenged?
