Advice/Questions on Springs/ Struts
I have went through the many post concerning lowering springs and stock struts. It seems that most feel that they are not a good combo. My question, however, comes from the fact that some say that HP Blues are the same as stock struts. So my question is "Is it a bad idea to mix lowering springs with stock struts because of the build or construction of strut itself or is it a bad idea because in most cases the stock struts on peoples cars are old"? Can brand new Stock struts work with lowering springs. Looking at Tien H-tech.

Gosh, this thread will probably get flamed because all suspension questions have been asked a zillion times before.
I installed Eibach springs and soon found out my stock struts were shot. It's always a better idea to get new shocks when getting springs.

I have figured that much out.

The only lowered spring with a stock strut combo without a problem is the H&R front springs and stock struts. I've confirmed this about weeks ago. Housecor is the member who had it for 3 years and counting without a blown strut. The reason is because H&r drops are very mild. But I'm talking about fronts only, though. I'm about to do the same thing soon.

Dude, he IS getting new struts. Re read his post, GOSH (feels good, right?)
He wants to know if he can use the HP Blues (considered stock replacements) with dropped springs. He is not saying he will be using the stock old struts.
wadamax, few points to consider:
1. how much you want to drop? the more you drop, the more chances of you blowing the new-stock-replacement shocks.
2. if you drop and blown the new-stock-replacement shocks, then you wasted money.
3. for this to work, you'd need a very small drop. Read this, very helpful and lists the shock/spring combos:
http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/how_to.html
4. for a small drop (the only thing that would work) i would NOT buy new stock-replacement shocks, but keep the used stock shocs and see if they last.

It was unclear in his post. He asked if it was a bad idea to have lowering springs with stock struts. Stock struts could be the current stock struts he has on his vehicle.......not too difficult...uber
