After calculating a full Z32 30mm BBK setup would run around $900-1000, I found this Stillen BBK kit for around the same thing. Anyone have it by any chance?
I don't know of anyone who's gotten it, surprisingly. Not a bad price for a BBK really. I think they're 2-piston calipers.
I would think about trying it out, but 13" rotors are probably too big to clear some of my wheels (same reason I didn't buy the Cobra setup)....
Anyhow, it's a nice price for a basic BBK setup, and probably more trouble-free than the z32 setup (which has proven to perform great but has been a bit of a hassle dealing with noises and fitament tolerances)...
Really? 2x rebuilt calipers from Autozone or some other store is $250 each IIRC. Then new rotors for ~ $150, new brake lines $60, caliper bracket $200, and new pads for $60. Rough total is $970.
I have Hawk HPS on Brembo blanks, but I'm sick of the spongy pedal even after bleeding. Since I am keeping the car might as well as improve a little bit of everything.
It's designed as a 4-piston caliper upgrade for 6th gens to use with their stock rotors.
So, get this caliper kit & some 12.6" off-the-shelf 6th gen rotors and you have a pretty cheap BBK.
True, the rotors are heavy, but the Stillen kit also uses a 1-piece rotor (which isn't light) and isn't much larger, and you get 4 piston calipers vs. 2. Not to mention it'll be even cheaper.

Haha, a guy on NYCmaximas.org is actually selling the Wilwood caliper with bracket for 12.6 or 13 rotors for $600. But even that after pads, lines, fluid, rotors, it will be around $1000 too. The Stillen kit is also 4 piston I believe.
Edit: Called Stillen, it is only 2 pistons. So I guess Wilwood is the next best thing.

This sounds like a bargain.
Link please?
If you buy stillen you only pay for the name

rebuilt calipers should only run you about $120 each first of all. Less if you have a "core" to return....
I got mine at a junkyard for $40 each, IIRC and then bought the $30 rebuild kit from Nissan and rebuilt them myself.
a set of Brembos in the GD section are about $120...
Caliper bracket.....that's the tough part...I don't know if you can even get them anymore

Stillen RSB - RSTB - FSTB - ES Bushes - G wheels - Raxles - Mach1 lip - Illuminas - and plenty more
Oh I see, the already rebuilt ones at the auto stores are a lot more expensive than a junk yard I guess. I used the part numbers from the suspension forum's 300ZX buying guide, all the stores quoted me $200+ for ONE caliper.

that looks like a slick setup. I'm checkng to see if they will fit with the 2-pc blehm 12.6" rotors....if so, I might change to these from the z32 calipers. Hmm....

$139.99 each from importrp.com (an org sponsor), and that includes the core charge....

so....I ordered them. Couldn't pass it up, and now I can use the z32 calipers on my Triumph most likely

I want to see how it works out. That's something I always wanted to do...those calipers and then Matt Blehm's 2-piece 6th gen rotors. Possibly the cheapest 2-piece rotor BBK [still] available for our cars.

Don't you have another really big purchase to spend money on?
Yeah, I'm just trying to do the last few things to the maxima before winter and then new baby come along.
Although I like the z32 setup, it's been frustrating to deal with and I'm just ready to get something that I know is going to "work" correctly because the calipers are made for a rotor this size and not a 11" rotor like the z32 calipers are. I want this to be the last time I have to deal with brake upgrades or replacement because I don't really want to work on the maxima much anymore and my GT6 will be sitting in my garage next weekend and then i will NEVER want to work on the max

I'm gonna be running it at first with my OEM 6th gen rotors that I just put back on for the upcoming winter.
Also my 2pc Blehm rotors are (believe it or not) warped a bit and I get a shimmy on braking from high speeds, so they need to be turned. The OEM rotors are smooth as butter right now......
I have to verify that there is enough swept surface available on the 2pc rotors to accomodate the wilwoods too....if so, great. If not, I'll just sell the rotors I guess....we'll see.
I was talking about the new house... I totally forgot you have a little bambino on the way, pretty soon you get to start posting about college funds instead of mods.
My wife is also feeling her "Motherly instinct" kicking in.

hmmmm....so all you would need is just the 6th gen rotor and this piston upgrade (seeing how it already comes with brackets) and you'd be set....that's not bad, maybe $800 total...excellent alternative to the kits that are out there.
The Fastbrakes kit says it comes with aluminum adapter brackets, but I'm guessing for the 5th gen we'll need some other ones? (since the kit is made for 6th gen)
Also, the 6 pot kit will probably throw the brake distribution way off and thus decrease stopping distance?
