2002 Mercedes C-Coupe: What do you think
#1
Have you all seen the new Mercedes C-class coupe? It's got a 2.3 inline 4 with the "Kompressor" belt driven supercharger that puts out 192 HP with 300 ft lbs torque. It comes with a 6 speed standard. A review I read said it does a sub 8 second 0-60.
There is an option where you can have the whole roof be one continuous peice of glass. It's a hatchback too. It has a lot of nicities standard.
The rear of the car looks like a Saab or old Nissan Pulsar to me. And I think it looks kind of girlish all around.
It starts at around 26K and goes up to around 30K I think.
Mercedes finally found a car to compete with the 3 series and Lexus's. I'd give it a test drive, but there are a lot of other cars I'd rather own.

well...
the front grill ROCKS, the dash is to die for..... but the rest is pure cheese. The back looks like a sunfire or something. The cloth seats (as shown in those pics) are the nastiest display I've ever seen from Merc.
Maybe they *feel* more quality than they look.

Does it really have 300 lbs ft. of torque?
I figured it'd be more like 200 or so.

yeah, its only 200lbs of torque. i like the design alot and the 6 speed manual aspect... its about time mercedes came out with a manual. i wouldnt buy it unless it came out with a 320 v6 superchaged amg. that would be pretty fast...

I drove one at the MB Powerdrive event. It was okay, interior was kind of cramped and the powertrain was not that smooth. But handling was very nimble, approximately on par with the C-class sedan, which itself handles very very well.
The interior is pretty much identical to the C-class sedan. It is an interesting coupe, but not worth it for the cost.
