Hey whats up yall. I've been driving rough roads for a while and needed some advice to soften things up a bit. I'm running 18" 28.4lb rims, eibach pro-kit, and illuminas. I'm getting some light 17's here at some point which will help immensly I'm sure. But my main problem is deciding on what spring. I bottom out constantly (bumps are 2/4), so I was thinking stock SE springs to raise it up giving more travel and clearing the SFC I'm getting. Only problem is I don't want giant body roll, but I may go with that as I am that tired of slamming the bumps. H&R seems to be the next viable choice but I'm scared it too will bottom out constantly. Thought about megan racing coilovers too. I don't know, just need some help here seems like a no win situation.

I would get some tires with a larger sidewall. It's those low profile tires that are giving you the most harsh ride.

I feel your pain though. I live here in Moore and the roads are horrible.

turtlehead-yeah I'm getting 17s so that will help a little bit.


So what springs should I get? What do I do to stop bottoming out and add some clearance?? need help people thanks.

Eibachs with Illuminas. I made the switch and love the setup.

If you are bottoming out of Eibachs you will probably bottom out on SE springs as well.

I would put the 17s on and see how it goes after that...

Konig Imagine Opel rims 18x8.5, going to be selling them here once I get other rims.

Man o man, I wish I had gotten coilovers in the first place. Would be fun to tinker with too. I may end up coverting ugh.

It's odd that you are bottoming out with yout current setup. I have 18's with Eibach springs and KYB-GR2's and I never bottom out.

Do Illuminas drop you that much more?

I actually don't think I'm bottoming out that much it just feels like it because the car is taking so hard of hits because of delayed spring response i.e. the wieght of the rim keeps the shock from responding fast enough to take most of the impact. In other words I think it's mostly the wieght of the rims combined with the stiffness of the springs that's jarring my car. I've just got to find some nice light rims that will clear my BBK.

Hey man, I was wondering how your suspension rides. Does it run nice and smooth? How about when you hit a large pothole? (obviously not on purpose). I am thinking about changing from my illuminas to kyb-gr2's but I haven't really heard much about how they run. I also have eibach springs as well.

What tire size are you running?

I have the same suspension setup, and I put the Illuminas down to 2F/1R and it's perfect as can be right now. Boston roads got terrible this winter, so I had to soften the setup a bit.

What's the negative side of your Illuminas? I have nothing but good too say on how my car rides with Illuminas/Progress Sport springs 2F/4R...All my buddies think it rides better than the stock SE!
