The 100k Day

I just had my max turn over to 100,000 this morning going to work and it's a milestone that makes me sad. I bought the car with 41k on it and never thought I would see the day!! Just curious as to how others felt when this happened to them and if they made sure to watch as it happened like I did? I have a big 1 to the side but the Max is still running strong…

Same thing happened to me. Right around 100K, the starter went out. Just happened again this past week at 145K.

This car has been trouble free. Other than a couple of known Max issues (MAS and front wheel bearings) I havent done anything to this car other than brakes and a couple of starters. Ive driven this car over 100k since I bought it.

Damn, I never heard of the starter issue? It seems I am always getting new brakes and rotors though. The guy said this is because of the way our wheel gap is bigger than most and the rotors cool down more quickly and that is why they warp on me? Not sure if that is true or not?

Other than that the only problem I have ever had was with the ignition coils that I had to replace at about 60k but I hear that is normal for our cars. I just filled out the petition for the recall so hopefully some day I can get reimbursed for it!!

Nah but my girlfriend lives 120 miles away (Im in San Diego and she lives in Chino Hills). My school used to be about 50 miles away but then I moved so that saves some gas. Wagon wise, I am looking at the older mazda mp5 or new mazda 3 wagons. The matrix is in thier also. I am looking for a car where I can place my bikes in with just taking off the front wheel. I'm slowly moving away from speed via car to speed via human power.

I think the general consensus is that the ****ty OEM brake pads leave deposits on the rotors themselves, thus not "warping" the rotors per-se, but throwing them off-balance and causing brake shudder, which are symptoms of a "warped" rotor

I will be at 100K by years end if not early '08. Currently at 94K and running strong so I'm hoping it will run strong after 100K ! Looking to get a little more serious with mods after 100K as I had the 100K extended warranty and wanted to wait til that is up before the stealership would start crying if I brought it in for work with mods on it!

I have to say I am really impressed with my maxima... i bought her last september with the mid 130's on her... now shes close to going over the 147 mark... i have babied her, but on occasion i still get the pedal to the metal... the good part on the car is regular service... tranny fluid flushes every 30K oil changes every 3K... previous owner did his own oil changes too and used only Castrol 5W-30 all the time so i just stuck with it... i guess to me it does make sense why the car continues to run well... driven well... maintained well... i know it will live well !!!

my recent work just included doing a sound deadening job on her... did the doors... the a b and c pillars and roof with damplifier and raammat and a layer off ensolite all over... now have to pull the rear seat and dampen there and also do the trunk... and my max is going to be more quiet than an es300 LOL

also as part of regular maintenance... shes got new tie rods, LCA's and struts/springs...

this is what I did when my car hit 100k...

that happened in September last year. Aside from xdrilled rotors and Hawk HPS pads and Michelin Pilot A/S's the car is stock. I've had only 3 cases on non-planned maintenance, and 2 were outside causes(sis-in-law backed into it)

I'm currently at over 132k, and for now I'm getting my Eibachs/Illuminas, some regular tranny maintenance, and an EVAP valve. nothing has really ever made the car undrivable, and I'm planning at least hitting 200k depending on how everything feels, and how much I like the 7th gen when it comes. Based on speculation and heresay, I should be closing in on that mark when they become somewhat available on the lots. If the car looks like a bloated pig, then I'll still have my 03, and maybe around 230-250k I'll pick up something else...

I am on my third max, I sold my 94 with 135K, I sold my 2000 with 137K and I am riding in an 03, which just turned 60K yesterday. I plan on paying off the 03 and keeping it forever.

Once I pay it off, I may do some mods, but I am planning on grabbing a low mileage 04-05 350Z so I can get back into a manual transmission with rear wheel drive. It will be a toy car with the Max as the daily driver. If I could just get my kids out of college I would be able to find the cash to play around a little bit.

bought my 00 new back on 4/00; should be hitting 170k in a couple weeks.
my starter went out also around 100k. no major powertrain problems to speak of. replaced the rotors once (yes, brake pad deposits)
she is starting to show her age now, I still have the "chickens in the trunk" to deal with.

I have a picture somewhere I took when the odo showed 111111, kinda cool
