Stock vs. GAB - Soundclips

Stock vs. GAB - Soundclips
I thought i'd post this for those curious about how the GAB sounds compared to just the stock airbox.
My audio app doesn't seem to be loading so i haven't managed to clean these up, but you should be able to tell the difference between set-ups. It sounds much better in person both in and outside the car.
Clip specs:
- Recorded 5 feet from the engine bay, off to the driver side
- Rev'd the engine to 4k, 3 times for each set-up
- Hood closed
- The sound is more pronounced early on with each rev as that's the point the throttle is "wide-open"
Stock Set-up
The GAB
Left Channel (Stock) vs. Right Channel (GAB)
Enjoy!

Yes, there is not going to be that much of a difference when sitting still and rev'n the engine. The car has to be under load or WOT to actually hear the difference between stock and modified, WAI, CAI, etc.

Also depends on the GAB. Are we talking about the coat hanger or a chopped stock filter holder??
When I tried the hanger, it was definately louder. Then I drilled some holes in my stock filter holder, a little louder than stock but not much. Then I sliced off the entire front half of the holder and it returned to the hanger-style sound. Much louder at WOT.

so does it get anylouder w/ a k&n drop in?
is it even worth the $38 for hte k&n and then worry about popping hte maf?
(i'll prolly never have to clean the filter since i drive a whopping 5,000 miles a year if that)

Sorry for the hearing test, guys I'll try to take better clips over the weekend.
You can actually hear the difference even w/o the load, since all i did was do a quick sweep from 0-4k rpm, the throttle is only wide at the initial blip - and that's where you hear the difference the most on these clips.
Both set-ups were done w/ a K&N, i didn't hear any difference using the Nissan filter. I've had the K&N for about 20k miles and only got it because i like cleaning it often. There's a lot of construction in our area so the filter gets quite dirty in a short amount of time.

Although, for the record, with the hot and humid weather down here, i felt the loss in low-end pretty easily with the GAB vs. stock.

I can tell the difference in sound my hearing is excellent and i guess my speakers are too. Not sure on how to do this mod or if its currently worth it. Ive seen threads go back and forth on this issue. I guess ill just leave it the way it is.
The after sound clip sounds more throaty and better IMO

when i first came to this site the first things i saw was the GAB mod.. i was going to do it .. i looked at videos on youtube and what not .. what i did was went to autozone or autoparts and bought a cone filter.. got the fit for it cut some parts of the tube and hooked it up .. i think it sounds way better and cooler it also gives u a growl when you start going past a X # of rpms.. the only thing now is to get a mid pipe in order to get rid of that 'accordion' looking piece which doesn't let air flow as smooth.. ima try to get some video/audio of it.
