2K Double Din Radio Kit??? Where to get it..

Hey guys i know im kind of a newb here but i have been working on the sound system in my max and as of now i have a flip out screen. The only reason i dont like it is because it blocks the damn vents. Anyone know where i can find a double din kit for the new pioneer d3? Thanks a lot guys.

Yes, and that requires cutting/sanding, test fitment, etc. To each his own.

I just did one in my 00 Max and it didn't require sanding, just cutting of the middle section of the Scosche NN1494 kit (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-+NN1494.html). The part that takes the longest is modifying the aluminum bracket that is going to hold the radio. Basically, you drill another hole lower than the OEM hole. By holes, I mean this. There are 4 holes on each side that holds the OEM radio. You would use 2 holes at an angle from each other per side, meaning drill one hole right below the indentation at the bottom of the top right OEM hole and another hole at the bottom left of the OEM hole. From there, you have to test fit and that's it. I didn't do a write up for it but that's how I did it. This is a picture of mine. I used a Kenwood double DIN though.

No one should have to modify their radio bracket to hold a STANDARD sized HU, whether it be double or single din. Just the fact that you have to modify mounting holes is reason enough to say that the Scosche kit sucks.

You must not have a bose unit.......
Those of us with SE maximas have a huge bose unit and require the kit.

i didnt have to do much work to do min,e the center trim pice is s thin i used a box cutter to cut it off.

Bose or not, shape of the bracket/opening/dash/kit are the same. SE/GLE does not matter either.

all 2k+ maximas except GXE's had the DD unit...hence the "gxe dash kit." Nilesh knows what he is talkin about.

Everyone has an opinion. The way I see is I modified the radio bracket slightly. The modification doesn't keep me from putting the OEM radio back if I wanted to. The kit cost me $15 and OEM kit is $150+. I'll take the kit for $15, not to mention that the kit doesn't look bad at all. People who have seen the radio in person like it....like everything else, there's ALWAYS going to be people who DON'T like certain things...that's life

Exactly, someone (a very skilled installer) took the time to cut/trim/sand/modify the kit so that it fits and looks right. In my opinion, if I buy something, no matter the cost, it should fit for its purpose and require no modification. That's exactly what the concept of a dash kit is made for - to fit and trim out a dash. What's the point of spending ANY amount of dollars on something if it does not fit right out of the box?

yep...the only reason Kevin did the work was because this kit was about 3 years ago and nobody posted how BAD it was, so Kevin was a lil mad when he had to do the work. In hindsight, Dave B should have been given a call.

Agreed. I've purchased two from Dave B in the three years I've owned this car - one was $81 and change, the other was roughly $88.
