can't you just file an insurance claim and pay your 100 dollar decutable? My insurance covers the theft of anythign that's bolted to my car. So, for example, if somebody broke into my car and stole my MP3 player and oakley's, I'd be screwed except for the window they broke. They get my CD deck, however, I get a new one. Same goes for headlights, I'm pretty sure.

This thread is the exact reason we (the org) will not give anyone instructions for wiring these headlights up to a 2k+1

I hate that feeling. I lost my wallet with my license and a spare key to my car in it. Someone tried using one of my credit cards so I know whoever has it is that has nothing but negative intentions.

Horrible feeling

Do it...the new ones have sick range on them...but unless you wanna run down some punk kid who has a 1/4 advantage it might not help ya. my range is just long enough for me to grab my glock 26 and take care of business.

IIRC they can make it harder to jack them, but in turn can cause more damage to the car if the lights are stolen.

if your looking for a great alarm system, that beats Viper and Clifford, Go for COMPU STAR.....they are rated number 1, i had one on my old talon i used to have. that thing let me know wuts going on a quarter mile away, and its like a 2 mile radius thing...but i never am away from my car that far hahaha

Thread title edited to something a little more informative.

So what exactly is the question here? How to deal with insurance? What replacements to get?

That dealer price is just a scam between the OEM and insurance companies. (Gee, Mr. insurance customer, since your headlights are like $2K plus, I am so truly sorry but I have to charge you more insurance to, well, "cover" my costs...and make LOTS of money!!! Sucker!!!

I've spent years in manufacturing and there is NO WAY those things cost anywhere near that price and most likely like $100 ea. This is what they will call a "service" part, and since volumes are a bit lower, prices will be a bit higher, but nowadays the OEM demands that service prices be the same as production prices, so who's screwing who here???? Not sure of all what's in them but this is ripoff prices. I get sick of fuel ripoffs, yeah, but when atleast in my state when the atty general gets involved in price gouging on fuel, that is candyland games when it comes to this stuff. I wonder how many of these units Nissan sells...and I can assure you that the manufacturer, unless it is Calsonic which Nissan owns, makes them is NOT making that much money. The markup is prob a combo of the dealer and Nissan since ya cant drive w/out headlights very much! Really, though, this is a situation of price gouging and really should be an atty general looking into this cause if they can penalize gas stations on fuel, then they can rule on this stuff, too.

Just my whining and $.02.
