Just received my new MAF from Dave B. How essential is it to have the ECM reprogrammed, per the directions that come with it? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just unplug the battery while you install and keep it unplugged for an hour after then reconnect it and go for a drive.

I think he's referring to the reprogram or "software update" as Nissan calls it. AFAIK, there are people who've done it and people who have not done and either way it doesn't seem to matter. Can't hurt to do it I guess.

You don't need to update it, many have been successful just unplugging the battery and allowing the car to adjust when driving after.

I was referring to the car readjusting after unplugging it...

So it should not need to have the "update" since many never had it done and they are fine.

yup.. im one of those people,... never got the "update" bs for 100 bucks,.. call me cheap but the car runs great so why get it?,.. but i always wonder if i would get better MPG with the flash .. even if it was like 1mpg.. but who cares/knows...
