Throttle pedal frozen/stiff when car is cold. Why?
Can anyone explain this. When my car is cold, and hasn't been driven for a few hours, the pedal takes a bit of force to press down on, as if it's stuck. It's only the first inch or two of its movement, everything past that is fine. Once the car is warmed up, or has run for two minutes or so, the pedal works normally.
Why is this?

Not sure, but my fiancee's old 4th gen experienced this when it got cold - I found there was a lot of gunk in the throttle body near the butterfly.
I thought maybe that was preventing it from opening easily - cleaned it all out - never happened again, LOL.

mine does this too, but only since I put in a bored out TB...thinking the throttle drum stop screw may need to be adjusted...only problem with that is then it messes with your idle and you will have a whole host of other problems...the other way is to iacv learn and do the closed throttle position memory reset as well to get the throttle opener to open the butterfly more during cold so it's not stuck in the bore, while not revving the engine higher by telling the ecu to ignore the slightly extra open butterfly...
my guess is during the cold start, the throttle opener rod has something to do with it and where it is holding the butterfly at...if it doesn't open it enough, the butterly in the TB will be too closed and will be a little stuck in the bore till you force it open with the throttle...

Clean the Throttle body and plate
I use carb cleaner and a tooth brush, Scrub the plate, both sides and around where the plate closes on the tb housing. Wipe it out as good as you can with a rag, it may be a bit had to start if you get a bit too much carb cleaner in there.

nypd-arnold...if you didn't change anything recently, then I would follow the recommendations of others on here as then it is most likely your TB being needed to be cleaned or maybe a simple adjustment of your throttle cable/drum stop nut...
