B pillar tape

I know that the B-pillar is actually just coated with a vinyl like tape, almost like electric tape. Mine is warn and a little faded and I was wondering where, if any, you could find such tape to replace this, and how you would get the moulding off.

If you are referring to the outside right next to the windows, then you can actually remove the tape and reveal the factory paint. Since you are black, it would look like stock just in gloss black.

I think some people did that since thiers was ripping off.

ya but where do you start? I noticed on the inside edge of the door, the tape is exposed, I tried picking at it on a corner and it seems like it would be impossible to peel off, it just comes off like paint would, little chips kinda. It would never leave a good finish, not to mention, it would take hours to get even one off. Am I missing something?

Hey, I found a little thread about this, they said they scored the edges of the tape, for a nice clean tear, I don't see why you couldn't just cut through if your carefull, Heat up the tape, (i thought about this, similar to de-badging, it loosens the glue) and it should just peel off. I'll try it tonight or tomr. Another point is that some people think it looks better to keep the black on the pillar if you have a colored car or tint, its all opinion though. Mine is ugly and faded thats why im taking it off. Just think before you do.. and good luck

Follow-up = @(*&$$ !!! I tested the top of a pillar tonight and all it did was pick away like those darned sticker tags on toys when you were younger. Like I said, it would take hours to get one off. I used a 1100 watt hair dryer and i basically think it was useless. I tried light flame.. (i know harsh but i was carefull) just to see if anything came of it, and all it did was dry the tape. So now i have this "attractive" gloss black spot randomly at the top of my pillar and i'm pissed. I have to try an actual heat gun, I'm pretty sure that'll work... i hope..

i did man, I dunno it just didn't go anywhere even after continuous heat for minutes its 1100 watts, and not THAT hot, worked on my badges so I assumed it would do this. The glue is definately still hard, because it chips off rather than pealing

well your's might chip off since the tap has been exposed to the sun for 2 years longer than mine

worked fine for me...i actually didn't even need to use a hair dryer but it certainly helped...just need to soften up the adhesive and tear it off.
