squeaky rear suspension, who has this problem?

Alright, so the past month or two, I've been tryin to figure out why my REAR PASSENGER side suspension is squeaking....it's loudest when I'm rolling the car in 1st gear, with the suspension leaning back and forth...I can also reproduce the sound by opening my trunk and pushing down on the car...it ONLY happens on the rear passenger side...here is what I've done to fix the problem..

1. Took both shocks and swapped them
2. Examined my spring isolators...they were in good condition...but I added extra insulation by wrapping the spring in electrical tape
3. Double checked the order of bushings, dust boots, etc...according to the FSM....
4. Examined the shock absorbers by pushing down on the piston...its very firm...also with the shock absorbers on the car, I can push down the car, and the car will rebound smoothly
5. Re-aligned the rear beam by using this thread http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=465329
6. Tighten all top mount nuts through the trunk

Even after with all these fixes, I am STILL getting the squeak ONLY on the REAR PASSENGER side...I was hoping that my shock absorber was the culprit...but when I swapped sides, it still made noise only on the REAR PASSENGER...another thing I noticed...I can reproduce a similiar squeaking noise everytime I jack up the REAR PASSENGER side with a jack...everytime I pump my jack to raise the car, the car gives off a squeak, until it is completely off the ground

I wanted to get everybody's input on this...cuz there was quite a few people who experience this...according to a thread a few weeks back..any input would be greatly appreciated!

mine does it over speed bumps and its only in the right rear tire area. It drives me crazy. Ive learned to live with it along with the knocking at startup. These cars sure do make some weird noises.

ahh, so one of them steps forth...does yours make noise when you push down on the trunk?

Is your shock boot rubbing the springs? I think I have that problem now after installing my new springs.

I have the same problem! This happend about a year and a half ago and it has been driving me nuts ever since. I even had the nissan dealership take a look at it and they can't find a thing! all hardware is intact and safe for driving, but they can't find out what it is.

Don't feel to bad. I just installed my Eibachs this weekend, and my car sounds like a damn school bus. Alot of squeeks and the stock struts sound like they are blown now.

if they are aftermarket struts, and you know your stock ones are not blown, try putting in your stock struts to determine if it still squeeks.

I had a squeaky front suspension and when I turned at approx. 5MPH I hear "boop boop booop" sounds. Turned out to be worn strut mounts, a call to Dave B and a trip to my mechanic solved everything.

I can hear the spring making noises in my front left. I think I gotta pull it back off and put more isolator on, also I forgot to put that gasket on top of the hat where it mates with the chassis at the top. Oh well...

Also, I determined that my stock shocks are just about toast after 66k miles. I could push the piston down with relative ease, amd I correct in this assumption?

I think you guys are mistaken where the noise is coming from...my fronts are NOT making any noise...it's only the REAR PASSENGER

I jacked it up...did alot of visual inspection...pulled off my suspension 3 times...realigned the rear beam...I pretty much throughly inspected the suspension and did alot of diagnosis....I also checked my wheel by seeing if theres any freeplay...solid as a rock...It also rebounds smoothly everytime I push down on the car...so my shocks are NOT blown...I also swapped both sides, and its STILL making the noise ONLY on the rear passenger side

Where exactly did you spray the seafoam deep creep?

I had this problem for a while and last weekend decided to take a closer look at it. I discovered that my brake line by the strut was loose and was making the noise. I replaced the "U" shaped holder and that secured the brake line. I no longer have that noise.

I will have to take a look at this later today...thanks

But I doubt its my brake line...I didn't see anything out of place while I did my diagnosis...how exposed was yer brake line?

The noise was being made by the brake line rubbing against the bracket that secures it. The brake line had some play to it with the old holder and I had to firmly secure it with the new holder.

The bracket was not replaced. I only replaced the "U" shaped holder. This holder secures the brake line to the bracket. It's only about $2 from the dealer.

Also, may seem far fetched, but it does happen. After removing the struts/springs so many times, the bolts that hold these parts in, stretch, and over time cause noises.

well i guess that isnt it. i thought it might be the RSB squeaking inside the bushing.

are you lowered? i wonder if this is a problem with lowering springs. if you arent lowered then its something else

I'll let you know if it gets fixed when I get my bushings swapped. I was thinking that too..but then again the noise could disappear just from the action of disassembly/reassembly.

Has anyone tried with someone sitting in the rear passenger seat?

Bushing might just do the fix though.

you know, i actually forgot to update this! I did this a few days ago by accident...well what happened was, I was messing with my suspension...and I ALWAYS hated that stupid dark metal plate that covered the rear suspension top hats....so I proceed to remove it...and when I did, wtf? that thing was barely torqued on...I thought I was crazy, so I tried to remove the drivers side rear plate...and what do you know? theres more torque resistance when loosening the bolts....AH HA!! theres my problem!!!

I haven't gotten the noise in a few days...I am positive this cured it...for anyone who has a similiar problem, give this a shot...it might help you as well

I tried that last month my self. mine was all tight. I have had all of Everythign out of my trunk for over a year. every few months I crawl in there trying new things. I am still wondering if mine is the rear seat or something.

Glad yours is fixed.

my passanger side squeaks also, ITS NOT REALLY LOUD, just annoying. If i ride in absolute silence....which generally doesnt happen, i can hear a "squeak, squeakity, squeak" TYPE NOISE and its ONLY THE rear passanger side. IM HOPING WHEN I SWAP MY SUSPENSION on monday it will resolve the issue. At first i thought it was interior but its NOT, AND IT ONLY does it when im riding over a bumpy road, it doesnt do it over speed bumps, nor when i press down on the passanger side area of the car
