White, Black or Stock

Corner/Bumper Lights

This will be my first mod. A tint shortly thereafter. Car color is Charcoal. In case you forgot here's a pic from the dealer:

Anyhow with that color in mind, what do you think I should choose from the following colors for corners. I'm leaning towards the smoked corners

Clear

Smoke

I was worried about scratches but there is a write up around here somewhere that I was reading that said you can actually pop them out from the inside, and hopefully avoid scratching against the fender/bumpers.

i think zero2sixty was talkin about the scratches that are underneath the sunroof deflector, should you take it off. I took mine off and it has scratches, but i still think it looks ton better than it did with it on. Much more sleek.

You can remove the sidemarkers from the outside w/o damaging anything. Just use a skinny flathead wrapped in a dishtowel and pry 'em out. hth

For first mod you can always do the GAB, then you can do foglight rewire. Both are basically free if you have tools and extra wires.

Stock is best IMO. Anything else is ricey. OEM lights generally has the best quality. It is also street legal. You really don't want to get pulled over for something petty, like clear or smoked lights.

You'll be fine with your clears or smoked so long as you put the correct lights in. If you go with blue, green or some nonsense then expect to get yanked. Smoked all the way... with out a doubt. The orange lenz just looks corny on any color car.

Agreed! I think stock looks the best and gives it a classy look, nothing flashy but not cheap either.

Suprised to see a/o this post that there are as many votes for clear as smoke. Since I was leaning towards smoke initially thats what I'm buying. The first (purchased) mod.

I've noticed something looked out of place like you said. I didn't realize exactly what until reading this post and then seeing the car this afternoon leaving work. As soon as I got home I took it off. It doesn't look like there are any scratchs but I'm going to detail it tomorrow so I can take a closer look once the dust/dirt is washed off completely. But it looks 100% better/sleeker.

I'm definitely not going to rice it up. I was going to go with a white light which should illuminate the smoked corner. I'm not even sure what color buld is in there now. I'm assuming its white and the yellow corners are what gives it the amber color...

I was thinking the same thing but I'm ordering smoked rears just in case I like the look. Otherwise I'll send 'em back or resale them.

Thanks again for the input. I'll post pics once I get them in.

My buddy had window visors on a Montero Sport. They looked terrible and were wobbly. Cholo Sport is what we called him.

I haven't found them yet but I've seen clear on the rear so I assumed that they'd make smoked as well. I'm ordering these this weekend when I have more time to look online/ebay etc.

Yeah... I don't think your going to find the rears smoked. You are either going to have to tint it or paint it. That's if you change the rears. I got all clears and tinted them at first, then later on painted them out. Much better then OEM set up.

I don't know where you are, but in Oklahoma, modifying stock lights is illegal. Maybe they are more lax in your part of the country.

If you look under the persons name it tells you what part of the country they are from. He's from VA. and I know that would be the wrong place to have illegal ****. However, it isn't illegal so then I suppose it doesn't make a difference.

Uh no. They have to reflect amber/red, not just illuminate amber/red.

Back in 2002, when I first got my Accord, I smoked/tinted the stock rear corner lights. The bulbs were not altered. Any modification to stock lamps is illegal here, amongst other things (exhaust). The exhaust must remain how it was from the factory. I am still disregarding that law, however. I just tread softly when I see a cop around. After a few days, I got this:

Court: Case Status:
TRAFFIC COURT CASE IS CLOSED

Disposition: Disposition Date: Conviction Date:
NOLO CONTENDERE 4/15/2002

First Name: Middle Name: Last Name:
VAN N. Txxxxx

Date of Birth: Sex: Race:
5/22/1984 M A

Tag Number: Drivers License:

Charge:
ILLEGAL OR DEFECTIVE LIGHTS

Location of Offense: Date/Time of Offense:
EARLYWINE PARK 3/23/2002 11:20 PM

Arraignment Date/Time:
4/15/2002 8:00 AM

Amount Paid: $40.00
Amount Due: $0.00

Due Date: 4/15/2002

I guess it is not illegal in VA, but is definitely illegal here. $40 may not seem like a lot now, but it could have gotten me 50 gallons of gas then! Haha.

Its actually illegal here, but not strictly enforced. Besides, Soonerfan has OK tags so he doesn't go through the VA state inspections.

well im in VA where they are less lax but i still have OK tags.
its very hard to notice that the side markers are diffirent (especially at night) since they still reflect and light up the proper color. havent had a problem yet.

Anyhow I'm interested. Coincidentally I can no longer find the smoked corners on Custom Maxima anymore. I wanted to compare the prices b/c I thought the front smoked corners I was looking @ we listed below your asking price.
I'll PM you if I can't find the smoked corners on CM.
