Clicking noise while driving
I've got a clicking noise coming from my drivers side front wheel. The noise starts after 5 minutes of driving or when coming down a big hill. Turning the wheel doesn't change the sound. The speed of the sound changes as I speed up and slow down but is always there. Brake parts are in good condition so its not the wear tab. Cv boots are also good so I don't think its the joints. The sound is the same when going straight and turning. Its not coming from the tire because its still makes the same noise even after the tire is removed. Its seems as though if the brakes cool down the noise goes away but comes back shortly after driving. Anyone have any idea what this could be? I searched but only came up with cv joints and brake pads. Could a bad wheel bearing make a clicking sound? I always thought a bad wheel bearing would make a humming noise.

Check your axle bolt. I had the same sound about 3 months ago during a road trip. When I got back home I had to have my front passenger wheel bearings replaced and it didn't fix the noise. I took it back to the dealer and they found that the axle bolt was loose.

if youv'e done the brakes recently, check to make sure the retainer tabs are tucked into the brake pads - if not, they will tick against the inside spokes of the wheel.
Is the sound related to the speed of the CAR or the speed of the ENGINE?

Thanks guys. I will check the axle nut tomorrow.
Irish-I did check the retainer tabs and they are ok. Its takes about 5 minutes before the sound starts. I can get the sound to start sooner if the I do a couple hard stops with the brakes. The sound is related to vehicle speed. What I mean is the clicking will speed up as the car speeds up.
