Manifold absolute pressure sensor fault??

Just got P0105 code along with a bright shiny SES light. (right after swapping the battery)

The car feels just like it felt for the last few months, somewhat rough idle and marginal power loss through out the whole rpm range.

Does anyone know what could trigger this code?

I had a famous 1320 stored in my ECU (no CEL) for quite a long time before I swapped the battery.

Thanks in advance.

Manifold Absolute Pressure?? I thought these cars had MAFs, not MAPs...

Sounds like a MAF problem!

yeah theres no MAP sensor, the only fault would be if you have one. if you meant the MAF theres a good chance thats it

Why are you guys saying that it's my MAF sensor?? According to Haynes manual p0105 refers to "Manifold absolute pressure sensor or circuit fault"

Is that another typo?

The MAP sensor resides on the side of the air intake "scoop" on the 00s and then after that was moved next to the ECM I think. Basically tells the ECM the car's altitude (ambient pressure) for starting fuel delivery, and during the normal operation (closed loop) senses manifold pressure during ECM "tests" such as the EGR valve tests that the ECM commands during certain driving conditions. The SES light and stored code can be set if the ECM determines a "disagreement" or improper signal from the MAP sensor. e.g. If the sensor voltage as seen by the ECM is for low manifold pressure but the throttle is WOT.

Thanks P. Samson!!! You have just helped me fix the problem!!!

I had to take off my intake scoop to install the battery, and I FORGOT to reconnect [what appears to be] the MAP sensor when I've been putting the scoop back in.

Thanks again, problem solved!!!

you mean high pressure at WOT, there is very low to no manifold pressure at WOT. i didnt know about the MAP sensor, interesting. sounds like its not related to anything really affecting performance except starting, but if its basically telling the computer the wrong altitude you could have problems.

I think you're confusing manifold pressure and vacuum. They are opposite. High manifold pressure = low vacuum, low manifold pressure = high vacuum. MAP= manifold Absolute pressure. Absolute is from Zero pressure. So the highest MAP on the Maxi would be about 14.7 lbs. per sq. in. at sea level (in other words - atmospheric pressure, engine running at WOT. Closed throttle gives you low MAP but high vacuum with the engine running.
