hey guys i have an exhaust question, I have a stock 01 max se exhaust in and i was wondering if i was able to replace just the muffler with a 2.5" magnaflow muffler.
Could i install just the muffler or would i need other piping parts as well?
how much do you think it would be for a shop to weld on the muffler and the tips?
and would it give me a decent sound, I really dont want to sound like a civic with a fartcan muffler

Just keep the stock unit, I've seen them go as cheap as 60$ on here & eBay.

I got a question. I have a salvaged (I know scary) 2002 Maxima SE. Everything looks perfect except for one thing. The driver side door (where the accident took place) was replaced but the door is not flush with the body. It looks like the door isn't closed, and stick out about 1/4 of an inch. It's nothing major, but bugs me. I tried moving the lock striker on the body, which I though maybe could be made to be adjusted, but the screw holes are set in place. Is there something else that could be causing the uneveness, or should moving the striker fix it?

Thanks for reading.

You can take the OEM headlights from 2002-2003 headlights and fit them in the 2000 maxima just fine.

Here is a thread on the wiring and process involved:

Post your HID retrofit how-to HERE

you can get a deal in the groupbuy section ($100 IIRC) but putting HIDs in 2001 housings is considered illegal

Slight exhaust leak became major from acceleration

This morning I visited my local garage complaining of a slightly loud exhaust... he confirmed that near the middle of the car, where one flange meets another, it was a little disconnected. I made an appt at Midas for this coming Monday. On my way to a gig tonight I was passing someone and I hopped on the gas very quickly. As soon as I accelerated, the slightly loud muffler became a super loud roar, and now it sounds like I have no muffler at all. What did I do? TIA

because your pipe was slightly disconnected, with all that pressure going through it finally disconnected the pipe completely...and its before the muffler and probably before the resonator, so no there for you dont have a muffler thats connected

I searched and I didn't see much, but my car is an 02 SE with about 40,500 original miles and it seems that sometimes at half throttle it stutters before picking up. Seems like spark plugs to me, but I wasn't sure. Any ideas? Maybe an ECU reset cause it seems like the PO was VERY easy on this car.

There always the Intake, Headers, and catback exhuast to start with. Then you can tune with an AFC and work from there doing the smaller mods like SSIM and BBMAF. And if you get all that there are Cams.

And if you really really really serious about power and you have alot of money then PM me and we will talk

Typically, it only stutters at the low RPMs when I give it moderate throttle, but it seems that when I step on it, it hesitates for just a split second, regardless of RPM.

If you pop the hood, and look on the firewall, there should be a little metal plate with some info on there, and paint code is one of them. At least that's the case on mine...

Can somebody please help me with some advice what tires I can buy?

I have a 2000 Maxima SE with the standard 17" rims.
In Montreal, the cheapest 225/50/R17 cost about 175$+tax.

Is there any other close size that I could fit on that rim?

I had some Dean all season 215/55/R17

Would any of the following fit ok?
225/55/R17 - Nexen ~79$+tax
215/50/R17 - Nexen ~89$+tax

Thanks a lot!

I own a 2k SE and my left parking light is out (the turn signal still works for now, thank goodness). I am thinking about changing to LED turn signal bulbs. Any suggestions, pictures, advice?

Also, one of my fog lights went out (after about 20k worth of driving after I bought the car). So, I replaced the bulb. It worked for a while and then quit working again (the other is fine). I'm guessing that this is probably a short somewhere in the wiring, but I'm not that good with electrical. Any ideas on how to identify if it's a short and where?

2000 Maxima Grille

Hey guys, I recently became a member after purchasing a 2000 Maxima GLE for my first car and I love it. I purchased an aftermarket grille (LUND Framed Perimeter Grille LND2-89046) and technically its for the 5.5 gen (02-03) but I own a 00 Maxima. Does anyone know if I will run into any problems with installation, or more specifically can someone provide general instructions for installation? Thank you for your help.

Yikes. You can unbolt a 2002-2003 grill, but the 2000-2001 grill is molded into the front bumper. You would have to cut out the old, fabricate brackets, then mount.

Thanks for your help. I know some people took the 02-03 bumpers and installed them on a 2000 maxima so they could install aftermarket grilles. I think I may just have to do that....

Wassup everyone!

Okay, first off I want to buy some new headlights w/ 6000k but I cant figure out which ones will be the best for my 00' Max and that are not so expensive. Can anyone help & guide me in the right path?!?!?!? Also when I do find the right headlights I was wanting to put some LED stripes inside the headlights. Has anyone done that before? If so do you have instructions on how to? - MAXXfiend09<--Newbie

I have 2001 Maxima SE. Recently, I started to experience an interesting issue. Periodically, both Break and Battery lights come on, both while driving and while car is not moving. After some time, they disappear. It has been happening to me for the last month with no apparent pattern. Please help!

Thanks!

I know there's several OEM style ones on eBay and you can purchase them pre-painted to match factory colors (just provide color code)and you can always put a lip kit on it later if you want. I know there's plenty of other sites that sell them unpainted as well, just google it.
