an auto might be faster in a straight line...but that isnt why i have my car...in the corners...an MT will spank an auto
I just want to let you know that I'm not praising autos. My last three cars have been standard. I prefer standard. The dealership I bought the car from was the only one that would finance me. My options were pretty limited. It was the GLE or the SE. Same year, same features. The SE was auto too. I test drove them back to back and the GLE had a stronger engine. I thought the SE looked better, but I had to deal with it. I think someone pounded that SE.

First of all, That was the only comp, etely pointless post I made. Sorry, just couldn't wait any longer. Second, I'm not that good with computers, but I've definitely looked around and was having trouble navigating this site.

28.2

with that lie...does the .2 make a difference?

the most any intake will give by itself is 1-2hp

wheel bearing issue

I think my wheel bearings have gone bad, I hear a whirring sound like a helicopter at higher speeds.

I want to save money, so I was wondering if I should get them changed (what are the consequences?), if so, how much would I have to pay?

Make sure it is the bearing (sounds like it by the noise you described). The part is cheap and labor is fairly cheap. Expect to pay no more than 150$ total. Look for the part @ Courtesy Parts, or, look up DAVEB on here.

A quick Search of his name, and you'll find him.

should it be 150 for all four wheels or for just one?

Why would you need all 4 wheels? No, that was just my rough estimate ( and what I've paid) for 1.

keyless entry/alarm

I recently bought a 2k maxima and it didn't come with a remote and I have a couple of questions on the keyless entry/alarm system.

I know I can buy a remote from eBay and program it but will that also reactive the alarm? I ask this because there seems to be an after market alarm installed and I didn't receive any kind of remote when I bought it. Would it just be better to take off the after market alarm since I have no way of controlling it?

Thanks in advance.

I suspect tires....check those first. If you have anything in your tire like a nail or something that will cause noise at those speeds.

If it is the bearings it is likely the fronts are the only ones that are of an issue.

The rear bearings are actually one part with the hub so you have to change out the hub to replace the rear bearings. The rears are VERY easy to do, but the hub is about ~$125.

im thinking of blacking out my headlights and foglights to match the car.
are the pre cut tint kits that are like 17% tint for the lights any good?
are there any guides of how to paint the insides of the headlights myself?

The ideal thing would be to get the remote for the aftermarket alarm. I'm sure the headunit of the alarm is located under or around the steering column. If you can find it and get the model and serial number then you can get a remote for it. You may even be able to get a remote with just the model number.

You can also download directions for the alarm to reprogram the new remote.

Oh, alright. I figured it was because of my coolness factor. That and he was scared of the noise of course. Now all I need is racing stripes and I should be pushing around 325-350whp. Thats just an educated guess though.

I wish I came here before buying the intake. I'd already have my springs by now. Sucks being broke.

SoonerFan please never respond to me again.

Is there a way to mod or paint stock 01 headlights from the inside to look similar to the AE headlights?

Does anyone know anything about that electric "supercharger"? And what is shootout mode on a dyno test? This is one site for an electric charger http://www.electricsupercharger.net/product.php How about Ksport springs?

its a pointless ricer mod that does nothing and is a waste of money

they actually have two pointless mods

During checkout please include your vehicle make and model in the "Special Instructions" section during checkout so we may include the correct supercharger and performance chip.

I just found a Stillen supercharger kit on andys auto sports that says its for 00-02. Were there any 02 3.0's or would this kit fit both? Is Megan racing a quality brand? I found some springs pretty cheap.

hey guys i have noticed when i wash my car there is water that is coming in on my drivers side door sill. its not a lot of water but enough to notice that it shouldnt be happening. i washed my maxima yesterday and when i put my window down there seems to be water in between the door panel and the door. once i put my window up water streaks are left on the window.

there isnt any water anywhere else int he car, ie floor mats, carpet etc.

is there anything i should be aware of that sends out any red flags? how can i determine this is in fact true and what can i do to solve this?

thanks guys

Replace the weatherstrip around the doors. It is basically one long strip going from the front door back to the rear door.

You can get it at an autoparts store, but they may not carry the one specific for that fitment. You can check to see if they can order one for your Maxima, but if they can't I would recommend going to a dealer for it, or check with Dave Burnette. He is good about giving discounts to members on this web site. You can do a search for his contact information.

Your options include...

1. Take it to a stereo shop and go with aftermarket head unit.
2. Try fixing it all yourself, but if you aren't very handy with electrical or wiring this will be VERY time consuming.
3. Take your MP3 player with you and listen to that.

Megan is a good brand. 02's never ever ever eve came w/ a 3.0L. Stillen stopped making FWD VQ SC kits long ago, but if you check the boosted forum, you will see that there are kits that could be built up using matty's adapter plates, etc.

Pop open your hood and look at your airbox
Search it.. 9whp, increased airflow, semi cool sound.

One of the first things I did. Between that and the OSCAI, it pulls noticably cleaner from 5500-6600 rpm.

Newbie to Maximas - trying to change the water pump on my son's 2000 SE. Couldn't manage to get the chain clear, ended up with pump slightly cocked and chain wedged tight, so I'll have to pull the timing cover for access and clean up/reseal.

Do the oil pans have to be removed to get the timing cover off? My guess is yes because I can't move the lower end of the cover with the pans still on, but I really appreciate hearing from somebody who knows for sure.
Later, Mack
