Heres a link to the "How To" flush an automatic transmission. Yet again, it's right out of the stickies.

It makes the noise when going over a series of bumps. It sounds like some thing loose moving around.

I guess thats a personal preference(even though I do understand that fact) since I've seen the first half 5 gens on the street and on the org with them. They really dont blind people either, I was across traffic looking at an AE with HIDs.

aftermarket HIDs are illegal for a reason.

Yeah I understand now, I just wish I could understand why do they sell aftermarket kits "legally" to the public if its so illegal to put them in non HID headlights.

its illegal to have them on your car ON PUBLIC STREETS. it isnt law enforcement's job to keep them off shelves...just off cars.

there is a lot of illegal stuff sold for cars...they get away with it by using the disclaimer "not intended for use on roads" or "for use off road only"

Happy New Year to all!!

My car: 2001 Auto SE

Issue: I think it's relatively common but...the car won't stay started unless I give it a little gas. I remember reading about this before and people would say that it's probably the IACV valve. I had this replaced with no luck. Then I read that a dead IACV could kill the ECU...

my question is..would a fried ECU still pull up proper codes? I ask this because I just recently replaced two of my ignition coils and the ECU pulled up the proper codes for those...also the car does seem to have adjusted to my driving style with no problems...

Should I still get a new ECU or am I looking at a MAF problem?

Engine tick or click

hey guys,

i got an engine click or tick that seems permanent. i have a 2001 maxima. i did some searching but only came up with a main cause being the lifters, but for earlier VE engines. would this be applicable for my car too? could it be the fuel injectors too? i'd appreciate any help.

This question probably belongs in the audio/electronics section, but i can't start a thread yet so i'll post it here. Bought my 02 SE used, and it came with an Alpine head unit, and an Alpine Subwoofer installed under the front passenger seat. Never really thought anything of it until now, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Im pretty sure its on lol (the lights are blinking) but theres no straight forward way to adjust the bass using the head unit, and there doesn't appear to be any controls on the subwoofer itself.
Do i need something else put in in order for it to work? I have absolutely no experiece regarding in car audio systems. Would i be able to take it out and sell it? No point in having it if it doesnt do anything right?

It can be one of many things. Your explanation is too brief. It may be valve related, rod knock, injectors, timing chain, one of the belt driven accessories..............It may be a normal noise that your not used to, but it's always good have it checked out.

You need 15 posts to open a thread.

Look in the following two sections.
Dealership and Vendor Experiences
Northeastern U.S.

Interior Lighting?!!?!

This is my first post, which i feel is good, i have found everything i need elseware, but i have a question that i just cant find to get answered!

Alright i simply want to change the interior lights of my 2000 Max, I just got a new Alpine Deck and installed everything myself, which is awesome!!, but i just want to change the other lights to make everything flow better, and well.. I'm on college break and want something to pass the time with my newly bought car!

(Climate Control (which is the electronic), Clock, windows/ locks on all doors, etc.

I just really want to know:
A. How many LED's i should order, specific recommendations on size, power etc.
B. What color do you recommend for the interior? I was thinking blue (My deck is the new iDA-X001 and is super bright blue, or red) (recommend it to everyone!)
C. Any helpful things that i should know

Thanks All

most people have a problem explaining sounds their car is making...that makes us helping you impossible.
sounds can be caused by - timing chain, bad gas, etc, etc
you also need to provide info regarding what driving condition cause this. under load? a certain RPM range

You might want to get this checked out by a professional, i had the same problem, thought it was sticky lifters and 5wks later I threw a rod and my engine was shot.

Had the same issue, your ECU is probably cooked. Nissan usually are the only ones that can re-program you a new one, I was lucky enough to find someone local that could re-program mine after replacing the IACV.

To be sure that it's not the MAF, try starting the car with it hooked up, or better yet start it and then unplug it to see if it effects your idling.

Headlamp connecter 3 prong?

Hi,
Please forgive me for possibly not using the correct vocabulary, but I know nothing about car repair. I have a 2000 GLE and my passenger side head lamp went out. We replaced the bulb, but it still didn't work. My brights will come on, though. Anyway, we saw where the 3 prong plug connecter thing had melted. I am told I need to be looking for a cord with 3 prong plug to replace it. I was told to look at junkyards, etc. I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what I am looking for so my search could be somewhat easier and less confusing and/or if there is another way to replace this? The person who can fix this said he could splice the replacement cord into mine. I really just need this fixed quickly. I've already gotten pulled over by the cops once, but they let me go. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
this happened on my 00.

what melted is the wire harness to connects to the back of the actually bulb. go to a junkyard and tell them that you need "the headlight wire harness for a 00-01 maxima". they will give you the harness with about a foot a wire. you will have to cut the melted harness off your car and splice the wires.

A simple question that ive been wanting to get answered.
What mods are needed to to make a 5th gen look like a 5.5 gen Maxima?
I know it requires more than just the headlights.

I am new to this site, I have a 2002 GLE and I have a question about where the bank 2 sensor 2 oxygen sensor is located. My oxygen sensor went out and I'm planning on doing it myself in order to save money. I think it’s after the catalytic converter but is it on the passenger side. It would be cool if someone had a diagram or a picture. thanks

IIRC xlcrew switched his cars look to the 5.5 (A33B) look. You may want to PM him. I would guess that you would need headlights, front bumper, rear tail lights, and I think thats it. You may need some bumper brackets, but I'm unsure.
