Metal, this looks badass. I might have to buy an extra cluster soon and TRY to follow this. Excellent work once again.

Awesome work Metal, I wonder how things may look with Blue LED's. I'm a little surprise you didn't for that since You have all those Blue Led's in your interior overhaul.

I may have to try this with blue for my max just to see.

nah, you just use a self resetting ckt breaker. you set the dimmer to full dim, and bring it back up... no big deal.

also from what i understand, thermal runaway is usually under higher current/diode ckts, yea?

This question has already been addressed and the faults therein. Thanks for playing!

Higher current is anything higher than the nominal values epcified from the manufacturer.

You certainley seem to know your stuff, I am looking forward to your version of this.

STEP XII - NEEDLE LEDs
Last but certainley not least is the needle LEDs. As you can see we will be using a 4-LED array with no resistor. We will not be needing one since the circut is regulated at 12V. I did this in white as I was out of blue LEDs, but I still have yet another trick up my sleeve! Simply make a PCB square, solder the LEDs in place, and go! I also enlarged the size of the hole for the OME needle to allow alot more of the LED to blow up the needle.

Gawd those are bright.

Dan, in the "comfort" thread in the Brakes/Susp forum, I posted I've got an Otto FSTB if you're interested. Good condition, you can have it for a couple bucks.

SUCCESS!!!!!

Everything is back in, I am going to take some picture tonight (to do it justice). I really should have done the needle-mount LEDs in blue, perhaps I will take care of this at a later date, I want to see what it looks like at night.

Oh, and I only have a single project left for THE overhaul, so, suffice to say, I am quite excited!!!

Special thanks go to Barc for checking his cluster to provide me the reference values for the gauges...I lost the paper I wrote them down on.

STEP XIII - ENJOY!
The last step will involve tapping power leads. Simply tap off of an OEM positive lead and ground the two wires as previously described. These pictures suck total *****, I'm using my fiancee's camera. I'll have more pictures up tommorow. It's bright. OFFENSIVLEY BRIGHT. Puts and Accord to shame bright. SO, if you're looking for an INSANELY bright cluster, follow these steps! Good luck!

When I do this I'm definetly using softer lights i think. I may try a blue with red needle. Granted the dimmer should still work with this, right Metal?

Awesome job though, cheers Metal.

Hey I recognize that cluster!! lol The reason you do not see any needles 2 Maximus 4, is because Dan is using for the test fit my old cluster that was a complete **** up which includes needles I colored blue thinking it would still diffuse the light but it didnt. When metal puts his cluster back in (the SE Cluster) it will no doubt be more spectacular. Great job Dan!

I've never looked into my cluster, or how the dimmer **** is set up, but if it's just a potentiometer, or if you could replace it with one, then you *should* be able to get it to work with this. At least I would think that you should be able to.

This project is definitely not for the "light" hearted (LOL). It looks great I am a little concerned about how bright it is. I am going to look back in the thread to see if someone mentioned if you are still able to dim them.
