It should be out sometime soon. I've got my fingers crossed for "some time before Christmas" right now. I always thought they came out in October, though... Still a few days left in the month.

If anyone wants to upload more CDs, let me know.

Thanks!

Nismo98, just sent you a PM.

Just checked the Zenrin website and they don't have any updates yet. Their last update was November 05 so maybe it will be out next month.

What we will probably have to do is to get the number of people committed to buy first. Let's say we have 8 people. Then, we will get the number of regions we want. Let's say those 8 people want 6 different regions. We can then buy the 6 regions and divide the cost by 8 people. Or, we can buy all the regions and divide the cost by 8 people. We'll take a vote on what we all want and then we'll see. I'm up for either way, actually.

Next, I can order the CDs and put them on a credit card or you guys can just mail me a check for the amount it will be before hand; either way, I don't care so long as I get paid back . The more folks we have, the less it will be. And, if we have 6 or more people, I am almost positive that if we buy all 9, it would still be less than 1 person buying 1 region since the price goes down the more discs you buy.

Now here is the fun part. I will upload all the disc ISO's onto the ftp site, with permission from our friend infinte, and you guys can DL them. I will also send out the discs I received from Zenrin to folks. Say, if you wanted Cali and since you've been here from the start, I would send you the Zenrin disc. Other folks would get the same courtesy, just using you as the example, Steven.

That way, everyone should be able to get copies of all regions and I don't have to send out 100 CDs!

I've got good vibes that I won't be stiffed on the bill so I will probably just buy the CDs and then get you guys to send me the money after I receive them, that way everyone knows I'm not going to run off with the money (plus, I'm not one to have the law after me over a few hundred bucks!). Once the regions are updated by Zenrin, we'll figure out how many people we have and what regions we are wanting.

So, is that about as clear as mud?

Just thought of another way we can do this if anyone wants to do it that way...

We can get a GD going by having folks list what they want and then I will buy the CDs and send them to whomever ordered them. So, I would buy multiple copies of one region if that's what was ordered and send just the discs out to folks. I wouldn't open them or anything, I would just be forwarding them out... I wouldn't mind doing that since I would save about $40 on the region I wanted!

Anyway, in that situation, whoever got the region from me would have to upload it to the FTP. The money wouldn't go quite as far but it might provide someone who didn't trust the deal with piece of mind that they would be getting a real Zenrin disc.

I'm not opposed to doing that either since someone might have trouble burning the CDs themselves or might not want all the regions or might want a real disc.

So, that's a way we can do a real GD and might get more interest.

MCA9 needed

I have MCA3, version 5.3 if that's helpful.
I could use MCA9, if available.
Please let me know how to proceed.

tks,
SJ

We are still looking for version 5.5 of the following:

MCA 1

MCA 2
MCA 3
MCA 4
MCA 5
MCA 8

Please let me know if interested. We've had a lot of response but not a lot of action.

If there is enough interest, we may have to do a group buy / buy all of the regions at once on all the newest software and spread the cost out over everyone involved. Let me know if you're interested in doing that! It may not be free but it will save money if you're trying to get all of the regions (or possibly save money even if you only want 1 if we can get enough numbers).

I'll shoot you a pm once you've gotten 15 posts, snipes. The ftp could use that version. Also, we have MCA9 v 5.5 uploaded. Reply back here or shoot me a PM when you get 15. Thanks!

I'm not sure how additional posts are going to legitimize my intentions or
credibilty.
There must be a method to this madness, so I'll try to stick
it out and post another 13.
I hope to get a copy of MCA9 before I have to drive to my in-laws
for Thanksgiving.

Thanks!

You can not get or send PMs unless you have more then 15 forums posts. Start finding posts to put legitimate comments in.

Anyway, hope everything has been running well. I know there was a hiccup with the server last week. Other then that, I think everything has been running fine. My 0.02 is to buy all the zones and post up the ISOs for online backup. You never look at the disk anyway. From the conversations I've had with Barc he seems like a very respectable guy. If I had a Navi system you best believe I'd be in on this. I am looking into getting a faster server for you all to download from. (100Mbits inteast of 1.5mbits)

As always, let Barc or myself know if you have any problems, questions or concerns. Thanks guys.

I just read the entire post and did not see MCA4 uploaded? Is it there? I'm going to get my 15 posts in to enable PM, but could you email the ftp info to og123@yahoo.com?

Thanks!!!

Pardon me while I explain the rules of common sense, courtesy and my FTP server:

1st - User accounts:
If you PM Barc askind to download / upload he will responding giving you correcnt logins for each. An upload account for uploading your back up. He will also provide you with a download account login to downlown your back up at a later date. DO NOT download from the upload account. This is not the designed use for this account and throws off my server statistics which I keep close tabs on.

2nd - Multiple Logins:
LOGIN ONCE!!!! What is so hard about this? You do not own the server, you do not have the right to use all the bandwidth for yourself. Others may want to download too. I will ban permanently anyone I catch double logging in from the same IP. Consder yourself warned. Go find someplace else to back up your CDs.

3rd - Hammering / Explioting
I have seen lots of people contiunously trying to connect over and over again with the same correct username and password and getting the error "Too many accounts logged in at the moment try again later." Later means an hour or two, NOT 1.25 SECONDS!

Also under this heading, I have seen lots of failed attempts to guess usernames and passwords on my FTP server, such as administrator, root, and the like. I am not blaming you specifically as this is a well known FTP server and this isn't the only place I help out. However, if you are running scripts against my server, I know it, and the appropriate law enforcement agencies have been notified.

I have no plans at this time to take down or limit your access to my FTP server because 2 or 3 people are idiots and do not understand these rules. Cosider this a warning. If such action continues, I will be talking to Barc, and we will determin the next step.

Thank you.

No need to talk to me. It is your server. Just change the PW's and such. Anyone who PMs me can get the info. Anyone who can't should post their email. Anyone who doesn't do either won't have access.

Anyway, I just PMed everyone who has PMed me or I have PMed in the last month with the info. I don't recall whether or not I included both the upload and download info (I have to send several PMs and I type each of them out, I know, dumb, so I might have skipped over one or the other just out of time / stupidity). I know I've logged in sometimes and DLed on the Upload side just because my ftp automatically puts in the login / pw. But, it has been a while since I've uploaded or downloaded...

So, anyone who I sent just the DL or upload info, please use the new info or PM me if I missed you this time.

And please follow infinite's instructions. It is his server, his time, his money, etc. and he isn't even getting anything out of it.

About the MCA5

Sorry I didn't get the MCA5 up last night. Halloween is my wife's bday so kids at door, cake, etc. Mine is 5.1 but I'd like to see that 5.3 MCA5 up there myself.

Anyway I'll try again tonight. I got the info Barry, thanks.

The FTP isn't working properly at the moment. I don't know if infinite is working on it or is changing the info. I'm sure he'll let us know one way or another! Plus, he may be overworked right now. He is taking a huge load at school.

appreciative new member asking about ftp access

I am new to this forum. Very impressed by how organized you are. I have a 2003 Nissan and would love to get a couple of the CD files for use on our family vacations, especially upcoming trip to Florida. My e-mail is btubb@yahoo.com. I would be happy to support the folks doing all the work of making these files available, hosting the ftp server, and so forth (paypal, check, Starbucks gift cards, whatever). Also, I have read through the prior posts and -- if you guys are willing to let me use the ftp server -- I will respect all the instructions about single login and limiting attempts to login.

So, when you have time, please e-mail me and let me know (1) if I could get access to the ftp server, and (2) how I could help out the folks who have put so much time into making this available.

Thanks,
Ben

Hey Guys,

I am late to the game, I have MCA7 v5.1 , but I have not been able to successfully make it into an ISO, if someone could PM me with some info I'd be glad to do it,

Also I have some hosting space which I can leverage if we are running into b/w issues with infinite or if he wants to alleviate his server.

unable to e-mail or PM anyone, don't want to clutter forum with 15 entries . . .

Hey guys,

Looking back, it seems like the forum would be cluttered by me posting 15 times to be able to send PM's, in order to PM Barc and ask for the ftp info. I don't want to fill the forum with one line posts that aren't of value to anyone. And I can't e-mail through the forum (at least Barc's e-mail is not available to me). Any chance that someone could fire off an e-mail to me at btubb@yahoo.com and let me know how to download the couple of files that I would love to have for our upcoming trip to Florida? Like I said before, I would love to send in some Starbucks gift cards or whatever to the folks who have put in the effort here. I certainly offer to upload the disk that we have, though I think you guys already have it (it's four years old). I appreciate you guys being so organized about this project.

Thanks,
Ben

My wife will be buying MCA2 disk. I'm going to check with Zenrin to see when the 2006 year version (ver. 5.6??) will be out and buy that one. In the mean time I'd like to get on the list and if someone would email me on how all of this is done. Thanks in advance. By the way I have MCA2 ver 5.1 if anyone needs a backup....

If your wife can wait a little while, we are attempting to put together a group buy type of thing so we can save a few bucks each. If you go back and read some of my previous posts, you'll understand.

Edit:

Just checked and version 5.6 still is not out. Sigh...

I sure will wait. I already told her might as well hold out for the most up to date one we can get and she agrees. By the way, could or would you consider using PayPal for the transfer of funds. It just makes it real convenient. Thanks for the response.
