Our's came with a "back up" copy from the previous owner for region 5, along with an original for region 3. He had the dealer he bought it from, in region 5, make him a copy so it was usable. Worked perfect, and didn't even know it was a back up copy till we popped a cd in there to listen one day. I've since purchased a new region 5 one..,

Just did a little research. To get all 9 regions (new) is $738.83. That's about $82 each as opposed to $120. The discount at even 3 discs brings it down to about $100 each. Food for thought.
I think this is a good idea when 5.6 comes out. Barc, are you willing to organize this? Collect the money, order the disks and then mail them out when you receive them?

I have traded with Barc in the past and he is

I can do it.

1) When do the new versions come out?
2) Who would be willing to go in? (The more people we have / the more regions we get, the bigger the discount.)

What I would most likely do is to buy the ones people wanted all at once then send them out when I got the money from them. That saves the delay of everyone having to get me the cash, then order, then sending them out.

Do you mind uploading that?

I should be in for at least 1 region. I'm still lacking even an old version of my new home region.

Barc,

I'm in. Just let me know the costs, and I'll send the funds. If it doesn't work out, I'll still buy region 1 and share.

Oh, and I tested some backups from the site, and they did not work. Yes, I know how to burn an .ISO properly. Can someone else chime in and see if my media is bad or something?

I've only burnt one and it worked, at least it booted up (I'm not in that region so I couldn't check). Did you use an R or RW? I've had luck with R's and haven't tried an RW.

Also could be that the person who made the backup ISO of that region didn't make it correctly....

Just to try to keep some interest on this. If anyone has anything they'd like to upload (Navigation CD's that is), it would be appreciated. Just let me know and I'll give you some info.

Also, those wanting the 5.6 versions in the "group buy," please post up so I can check the pricing we should be expecting.

Thanks guys!

Hello All,

I bought 2004 maxima with navigation last month and I am not sure what CD version I have.
Can someone help this poor girl about where navigation CD is in my car?
Also how to tell what version is?
Also how can I get all other CDs that you folks are talking about?

Thanks in advance.

Don't know if it will help, but I have:
MCA9 - v 5.4
MCA8 - v 5.3
MCA7 through MCA1 - v 5.1

Sent you a PM Shaydz. Your help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

The 2004+ came with DVD navigation whereas the 2002 / 2003s are CD based (and have 9 regions which total out to be about 6 times more expensive than the single DVD). On the 2002 / 2003, the disc goes behind the screen (there's a small "open" button on the left side). I think there is only one DVD for the country. Ask over in the 6th gen forums and someone may be able to help more than myself!

I just bought a 2002 maxima and wanted to help out too because I was looking for more updated versions. Right now I have MCA 3 and 8 ver 5.1. This is pretty old so I don't know if this would help or not. But I was wondering how I would be able to get more updated versions and get all 9 CD's.
If theres anything I can do to help let me know.

thanks

Sounds good Steven. I think that's at least 3 or 4 CDs right there. If we can get a few more folks willing to put in between $80 and $100, we can get a complete set of 5.6's when they come out! That's not bad for $1100 worth of discs! I'll start a list of folks soon and put the region they want down.

If we have multiple people wanting the same region, we can either buy more regions (if we don't have all 9 represented) or we can just make everyone's total that much less. I'll leave that up to everybody when 5.6 comes out and we get some definate replies (like Steven's above).

bdubs... I think we have all the discs accounted for BUT I will PM you with some info (if your PMs are on). You may have to get over 15 posts to get PMs, don't know. If not, I'll just email you. Any CDs that you can upload would be appreciated since we only have one member who has most of the CDs and I know he would appreciate the help!

One update guys ... If you're having trouble with the FTP, use passive mode. I told Barry this in a PM, and I figured I would make it public knowledge to save him PMs and aggrivation.

Also, using an FTP client such as smartFTP would be a wise decision as well. Any other questions, feel free to PM myself or Barc.

Thanks infiniteecho! I had forgotten that!

Maxfli, I'll email you the info. Your PMs won't work until you have 15 posts.

bdubs, I emailed you the info using the email address here on the .org (through the .org system).

Let me know if you don't receive anything! Thanks!

So far as the brand new CDs go (version 5.6), they aren't out yet. We're going to wait until they come out which should be some time in the fall.

I'll PM or email you with some info regarding the download.

EDIT

PM sent to flewdawg.

Guys,

I'm from the FA QX4 forum (bigshark there as well) and I'd like to share my older v5.0 area 7 for archival. Can I get on the PM list and help out?

the error message I got was
Details:
200 type set to I.
227 entering passive mode (64,xxx,xxxx,xxx,xxxx)
550 cannot STOR. No permission.
Please don't post FTP information here... Thank you

Secondly, are you using the right username / password? The download username will not allow for uploading. Others have had no issue uploading, so please check to make sure your FTP client is configured correctly.

sodaboy / bigshark, emails sent.

And please, please, please don't post up the ftp info. It isn't that I worry that someone will mess something up, but if you don't have navigation and just download to be downloading, then you're hurting those who have navigation and need the info. Plus, there are those lurkers out there (and programs that do the same) that are there just to mess something up. infiniteecho has been WAY too nice to us thus far and I would hate to let him down. I'd buy the guy a beer or three if he were here!

Thanks to everyone for all their help!

Remember to let me know if you think you'd be interested in the group buy come this fall. We will get a final list together when they come out and order soon thereafter.

dang just tried out the mca 8 v5.5 on the ftp. it was kind of confusing because i saw two images one in the folder itself and one in a folder located in that folder. i tried out both and it comes up as an error on my pathfinder's navigation unit. maybe its my pathfinder its an 01 is that too old? or it could be the cds im using they are cd-rs from memorex that i bought from walmart. they are very cheap and perhaps unreliable. what do you guys use?
