I have the following CDs and am in need of discs 3 and 6 (but wouldn't mind a full set or upgraded MCA4). I have a 2002 Infiniti I35, but the discs are the same as the Nissan ones.

MCA5 v 5.5
MCA4 v 5.3
MCA 8 and 9 versions unknown (is there a way to find the version?)

I read in earlier threads about an FTP site. I would be glad to post my zipped ISO files.

Email me at vanryck@gmail.com

Thanks.

SR20DEN was hosting these files on his private website. That part of the site has recently not been up and running. I don't know the status or if he plans to update it any time soon. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Are these "files" you all speak of - are they downloadable navigation CDs? (just for clarification) And does anyone have a link to the site?

(Also, I have a 5.5 MCA6 CD I'd be willing to trade for an MCA5 (Chicago region) if anyone is interested!

Email me at Zach@gadson.com

The "files" are / were downloadable navigation CDs. The link for the site was not posted openly and should not be.

As of several weeks ago, the site was not working and still is not. I can't PM the guy running it (SR20DEN) so I don't know what's up with it. I'm hoping he may chime in here.

As far as purchasing a new set, that's up to you. Zenrin hasn't made any since 5.5 that we can use and most folks don't want to pay that much for a set of 3 year old CDs. There were copies of all regions, some newer than others, on the site so I'm hoping it gets back up some time in the near future.

If someone steps up and would like to host the files on a secure server, let me know. I can make ISOs of all the regions and upload them but you'll be on your own so far as handling logins / passwords, bandwidth, etc.

You could upload the .iso files to Rapidshare.com or Megaupload.com and then post the links somewhere discreet. They both have free filehosting with limited downloading bandwidth. But, hey it's free. I think most of us are unwilling to pay 120 bucks for 1/9th of a US map.

Hey guys.... I thought you might be interested to know that there will NOT be any updates beyond v5.5. See the message below I got from Zenrin yesterday.

Dear Customer,

Unfortunately, per Infiniti, we are not longer producing navigation updates for the CD based navigation units. The current version we have available is 5.5.

That does not seem at all surprising. The fact that they went 3 years already without an update was a pretty clear sign. Sort crappy though. Maybe they don't make any money off it since CD's are so easy to rip?

Its still a bunch of crap... Why spend 2K for something that is only good for 4 years?? Auto Parts have to be manufactured for years even if the car is no longer manufactured, why not navi systems?

Does anyone else think that they should either offer a DVD swap solution or be forced to suppport updates for 10 years?

Parts are still available. You can buy map CD's all day long. I haven't owned many Nissan/Infiniti's, but what other parts do they offer you a free upgrade for once the part on your car becomes obsolete?

Need MCA9 V5.5

Just bought a used 02' Pathfinder and I don't have the CDs I need. I do have MCA's 5 and 3 both v5.5. I need MCA's 9 and 8 but, of course, like all of us, I would like to compile an entire set. I'm very willing to email the ones I have to anyone who needs them. My email address is mattfrance@comcast.net

Thanks

I sent you an email just now, but figured I'd add a post here as well. Im in need of MCA5 (preferably a 5.5 version, but any will do). Im actually leaving on a trip late this afternoon and I could really use it. My email is Zach@Gadson.com if you or anyone else can send me the files. Also, I have an MCA 6 version 5.5 CD that I'll send to anyone who needs it.

Megaupload

I just looked into the Rapidshare and Megaupload sites. Megaupload would be the only site we could use because Rapidshare only allows files up to 200MB to be uploaded. I copied the Navigation CD to my desktop and it's apparently579MB. Megaupload has a maximum file size of 1024MB, so we could use that if we want to trade files with someone. Im about to try it with a guy, so I'll let ya'll know if it works...

*crosses fingers*

How to Use Megaupload to Trade Files

Copy Navigation CD to hard drive (saving directly to the desktop is probably the easiest place to save it to so you can find it again later). Once saved, it's automatically named "CDROM"

Go to www.megaupload.com (you do not have to be a member to do this) and upload the CD file by clicking the "browse" button on the web page. Enter the email address of the person you wish to send the file to. It says entering your own email address is optional, but if you do enter your email, you will get a message back saying the file was sent, and in the email will be a link to your uploaded file.

When the file is done uploading (this takes quite a while) it will ask you if you want to buy a link. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY ANYTHING. Close the megaupload window, and open your own email to get access to the free link to your file. This is the link you can share with others who want your navigation CD files.

Once you've uploaded the file, you can copy the link from your email and simply email the link to other people who want the file. They click on the link and it starts downloading on their own computer. In other words, you don't have to re-upload everytime you want to trade files with someone, just send them the link you received in your own email.

I currently have a link for my MCA6 version 5.5 disc available to anyone who needs it. Email Zach@gadson.com if you would like the link.

Once downloaded to your own computer, burn it to a blank CD and put it in your navigation CD drive and it should work.

Here's a thought: Let's all upload the newest versions of our maps to megaupload.com. We can pick an older older thread (one that has nothing to do with navigation CDs) and edit a post in it so we can hide the links. That way, we all have accces to them and know how to find them, and can share this hidden thread with people who ask nicely for CDs.

(Since I've taken the time to figure this out and post it, is anyone willing to upload an MCA5 version 5.5 to email me the link to it? Please?)

I've received several map files in my email (thankyou) but I can't seem to burn them correectly. I've tried several different burn methods, but they all run on the navigation system as an audio CD, not a navigation map CD.

Any ideas?

Bump!

Has anyone successfully burned (from a file, not a direct CD copy) a navigation CD that works in their car? If so, how?

Thanks in advance.

Are you writing the .iso as an image? What I mean is, if you simply write the .iso file onto the CD-ROM, it's not going to work. It depends on the software you are using, but you generally need to pick some non-standard option to write the disc from an image.

If you can browse the CD on your computer after you wrote it, you are doing it wrong.

Yes, my computer recognised it as an ISO file, so I downloaded a powertoy called ISO Recorder that's supposed to burn the exact image onto a CD but apparently its not working like it should. But like you said, even though it wont work in my car, I can't browse the CD after burning so I assume Im doing something right, just not everything.

Any suggestions as to what prgram to use to burn it?

I was hoping that somebody might be able to help me out with MCA 7, version 5.5. I'm willing to pay for it, too, if you can save me $$$ over having to buy from Zenrin. Email me at banquetpics@comcast.net.

Thanks!!!!

The website where the files are being hosted does not exist anymore (or if it does still exist, the guy with the link to the site isn't here anymore). This is also a pretty old thread, so there's only a few of us here who have started this up again fairly recently.

I'm still in need of a 5.5 version of MCA5 along with Bill, too.

The only discs I have are MCA6 ver5.5 and MCA5 ver5.3 - but I'm willing to share either if anyone needs the files.

I don't think its that easy anymore. A few of us newbs have been trying to get our own CDs straightened out and very few people who originally setup this thread still use Maxima.org. We've been having to beg, borrow, and steal to get our CDs. (I still don't have the MCA5 ver5.5 I want, and its been a month or two since Ive started bugging people.)

Able to host files

Hello all,

I am interested in MCA cd's. Defintely looking for a set or at the very least cd's 7 & 8 as those two cover all of the NJ area. I am new to this and dont have any cd's to trade..

I can however offer to host the files on my server via FTP or on a website for download.. Only caveat is that since it's a Windows XP machine only 10 ppl can download at the same time.

Let me know what you all think. Or if anyone can help me out that would be great as well.

Thanks.

btw: desines @ hotmail . com
