OK guys I have the first one hosted. It appears you have a collection of raw ISO files which wastes a lot of space and bandwidth. I used 7zip and got the first file down to 16% of it's original size. Now I need someone with NAV to PM me for a test download and install. We just need ot make sure everything is working before I go through them all.

Also, just so folks will know, SR20DEN has figured out that you can actually zip the files up and save about 3 to 5 times the amount of time uploading the files (and, in turn, downloading them)! Anyway, anyone that can help get the newer versions of the MCAs, please let me know. Thanks!

So these are on the ftp site? Or a new place? (at work and can't check right now).

I'm also wondering, if Zenrin releases a 5.7 update in November 2007 as they are rumored to do... What are you all interested in doing? I suspect if they are hosted for free like this, no one is going to want to be the chump to buy them so everyone else can get it free. But if you got 10-20 people or so to go in on the set, it'd be a lot cheaper per person, maybe ~$50 or so. I suppose you could even set per-disc rates at maybe $10-20 per region for people who don't want the whole thing. Of course if they then just show up weeks later for free as .iso files, no one will want to pay, again leaving someone holding the bag.

Thoughts?

Personally I'd love to have 2007 versions (assuming they are produced). I think the GPS is great, I love the interface even in comparison to newer units. Though I'm not sure I want to spend $120 and up on maps...

I have been giving these out a lot lately and NO one seems to have anything to add to or improve the collection.

From now on, I will not distribute the link to anyone that doesn't first tell me what they have or don't have to contribute.

Tell me what you guys have and I will PM you the link.

Also, please tell me what vehicle this will be going in, because if you have the wrong vehicle there is no point in me providing you the link. However if those with newer vehicles want to participate, I will host the newer DVDs as well if someone can get them to me.

I already put my "improvements" on the FTP site. I doubt most people will have something to contribute.

I had trouble with the d/l from your site, but have been pretty busy and haven't tried it again.

Hey guys,

I've been out of town (& state & country) for a few weeks now. Apologies. I don't have any planned excursions for the next month so hopefully I can help out once more.

SR20DEN is really helping out on this in a big way and a huge "thanks" should go out his way. Thanks!

If you have uploaded in the past, please let me (or SR20DEN) know. We wouldn't be where we are without those uploads!

I'd be willing to try out the 5.3 for Region 1.

Crazy there isn't the newest one considering that Region 1 is probably the most populous of all the regions. Perhaps folks from the SW don't share. My Maxima is too old I guess if I'm excited to get 5.3. :P

I need help with the firmware update... I've got an 2001 QX4 and MCA9. I've tried to load v5.5 but it says the version is wrong.

I've got a firmware update CD and when I go to update it, it states my current version is: ILK22022

The available updates at the bottom half of the screen are: WXC22031, WXC32031, and WXC42031

Which one do I choose to update? or do I have the wrong update disc??

MCA 9 is the most populous.
45mil in MCA 9 vs 39 mil in MCA 1

You can try them all and it shouldn't hurt but I'd try the one with the highest number first (WXC42031). Also, you can try calling Zenrin to see what they have to say.

looking for the new ftp info but don't want to clutter board

Hey guys,

Looking back, it seems like the forum would be cluttered by me posting 15 times to be able to send PM's, in order to PM Barc and ask for the ftp info. I don't want to fill the forum with one line posts that aren't of value to anyone. And I can't e-mail through the forum (at least Barc's e-mail is not available to me). Any chance that someone could fire off an e-mail to me at btubb@yahoo.com and let me know the new ftp download info? Like I said before (back on page 8 of the posts), I would love to send in some gift cards or whatever to the folks who have put in the effort here. I certainly offer to upload the disk that we have from our 2002 Pathfinder, though I see you guys already have a newer one. I appreciate you guys being so organized about this project.

Thanks,
Ben

Funny. They said "November 07" in April. I'm thinking "don't bet on it ever coming out" should be the response.

Yep not a good sign. I emailed them in April and they said November 07 was the next release date. I don't get that loving feeling from this company...

Please email me vqtech@gmail.com or talk to me via AIM SR20DEN so we can get started. Those are better versions than what we have of those regions.

I have been reading this post and have the same problem. I am a new owner of a used infiniti an need a current copy of the navigation disk. my dealer would not help and refered me to Zenrin. they only wanted to sell me a new disk for $120 and would not replace the bad cd i already had as they do not honor warranty beyound 30 day. so i need some help. could anyone help me to get a mca 9 ver 5.5 to replace the bad one i have. if you will help me i will send you a copy of the lastest version when it is released ( i intend to purchase the new one when it is releases, per Zenrin in may of 08)

Thank you all in advance.
