help with electrical problem.

hey guys, I bought a dimming mirror w/compass and would like to install it on my '00 Max GLE.

I went to Deon thread but no help with my '00 Max because most of the buyer there are 02 up and they are plug and play.

Anyway, I was gonna hook it up to the map light but the power for the mpa light are on all the time. Then I tried to hook it up to the sunroof but couldn't find the power wire.

So, any one out there plz help me where to hook up the power wire. Thanks a lot.

Just power it up to the cigarette lighter. Since the cigarette lighter is run off the ignition, the mirror will only turn on with ignition and power off when the car is off. That is where I powered mine. Ground to metal on the roof where the sunglass holder is. You don't want to power to a source where battery is powered all the time like the map light. This will definitely draw some current while the car is off, draining the battery. Power the mirror to ignition, since the mirror has no off/on switch.

Invest $5 into a cheap voltage meter. You should be able to find the power wire then

yeah I tried that, but can't find the one on the sunroof though. There were like 5 or 6 wires and tried all of them but no luck.

You didnt do it correctly then. That sunroof switch has a power wire there. Make sure the car is on when you test the wires
