Which tires for Maxima: BFG Traction T/A or Yoko V4s?
It is time to change out my Dunlop Sport A2 tires 215/55-16 (almost bald in less than 30k while the tires are rated at 50k).
After some Internet research, it comes down to either BFG Traction T/A (H-rated) or the Yoko V4S (V-rated). Does the H/V-rating make any difference in legal speed driving?
BFG has better handling/traction while Yoko seems to have better ride/comfort. They are about the same price and tread wear rating.
Anyone has experience with these? Any recommendations?

Hey...I just bought my 2k2 SE max, 6speed and I put on Yokohama V4s's on my stock 17" rims, they have about 2500miles on them right now. They are a great tire, handle great on dry and wet pavement but I find that they aren't that great in the snow. My girlfriend actually has the Traction T/A's on her car (relatively new) and they are a good tire as well. That size though is a 215 60 r15 i think so It might be comparing apples and oranges but It's a good tire as well.
Personally, I am happy with my Yoko's and they were very nice at 140mph!!

The yokos V4S are great tires - I have them on my 17s (215-50/r17) right now. Best dry grip out of any of the tires I've tried so far. Very responsive. They're not going to live up to the 500 treadwear rating though - I think I'm going to get around 35K out of my set. Haven't tried the T/As

I have the Faulkens as well I love them. They are obviously not snow tires and no all-season or high performance all-season will ever act like a snow tire...BUT they stick awesome dry and wet and I havent had a problem with them in the snow at all!

When I got the car new, I had Dunlop SP5000 on it. Then I put Yokohoma AVD DB2 and then now BFG T/A.
I was thoroughly impressed with the Dunlop SP5000s, Yokohoma was not good wrt thread life but was quite, BFs are just OK or it could be the car is getting old with 100K on the odometer!!

Thanks for all replies.
I have used Dunlops, BFG and Yoko on different cars, thus different sizes.
My impressions are Dunlop SP4000/5000 tires are great but wear fast and the Sport A2, which I have now, just plain sucks (bad stability/wear). BFG are good all around tires but average in most categories. Yoko's are good performance tires but wear fast and with soft sidewalls => bad cornering.
It is always a compromise/tradeoff.
