For those with 20's

I'm thinking about selling my 19's and getting some 20" ADR Sterling's with 235/35/20 tires, and I was wondering if anybody liked/disliked having 20's. I'm on Illuminas/ S-tech and I'm not sure if there will be any rubbing issues or not. Thanks for the input and feel free to post pics!

I'm runnin 20's with 225/35/zr20 nitto 555's, with s-tech's I have absolutely no prob. with rubbing. even over the biggest bumps, hardest turns etc. My man tried running the 235/35's and had a prob. with the back rubbing a lil.

I think 20's are too big to roll here in ATL. I really like a 45 series tire, but most over 18 are 40 and 35, too low for these pot holes.

I have 245-35-20. The ride is good depending on how you ride...the rubbing will be in the back. When you go thru a bump, nothing major I have a system in the back so thats why i rub but I solve that problem by removing a screw in the rear fender, your bumper wont fall off, trust me...dont roll the fenders cuz thats not why you will rub with this setup...

other than that you wont regret it!

If you are getting those rims with a lip go 20"s .... 19"'s look tooooo small...and dont worry about what people say...

Can some one enlighten me, what's the point of getting 20 in rims. It hinders performance and decreases fuel economy. Why not stick with 18s ? They look just as good and you won't have to worry about those potholes or performance loss.

ding ding ding!

actually, I'm planning on buying some 22's and instead of tires, I'm just going to wrap some rubber bands around the wheels....

The aspect ratio also depends on the width of the tire that you're using, so even if you have a 35 series tire, you could still have a good sized side wall if your using wider tires.

i love my 20s. i have had every size from 16-20 on my maxima and my 20s are the best...the wider rim grips the road better. i am runnin 245/35/20 on my 19s i had 235/35/19 for the 18s i have 225/40/18 17s were 205/40/17 and my stocks are like 205/60/16? i dont even know they been in the shed for liek 2 yrs...the point of 20s is to have 20s and not have no 18s liek everyone else has...my next car maybe a new max is gonna have 22s...the more rim the better....i aint goin for performance i am goin for bi*ches and its workin fine...

20's arent for everyone its a wide spectrum of what wheel consumers look for. Pot holes are a cop out because you just have to pay attention to your driving (with the exception of inner city driving like NY). I find it funny that people who yell performance loss drives auto's with slim to no mods. A few years ago when i was into the performance aspect of my old maxima i was the first person to yell 20's are terrible. Then i started to get more and more into the japanese VIP styling of cars and with the right width, offsett and drop it looks incredible.

I'm runnin 245/35/20's had a small problem w/ rubbing in the back, but just shaved down the piece where the rear bumper and fender meet on the inside of the wheel well. Other than that the only other problem i have had is potholes. I try to avoid them but, u can't always, I've gone through three bubbled tires in the past year and a half i've had 20's on my cars.

Ive had 20's on both my maxima's including my 92. Never really had any rubbing issues. It really all depends on the width and offset u choose. Ive also had the same set of tires on my 00 for two years and they have plenty of tread left on them even though i drive like a maniac

I had 20's for a bit on stock height. I want to say they were 20x8.5 w/ 245/35 (could be wrong with the wheel width) and i cut my tire too much so i had to take them off. Couldnt even think about puting people in the back seat but they looked good. They were off of my Q so i didnt buy them specifaly for my AE max. Im thinkin about the drop to 19's now. Hopefully you might be able to help me out a bit.
I just want to make sure im not going to have to drop the cash and be in trouble like im sure is where you are too. Whats the width for your wheels and tire size? Have you had any rubbing at all with stock height?
I def see your concern everyone says something different with running 20's or even 19's. Good luck

20s look good on 6th gen and altimas becasue of their bulky body style. smaller cars should stick with smaller wheels. but i guess you wanna be a baller. i hear ya. yeah im too broke to buy 20's. if you wanna be a true baller, save your money and invest in a benz. that rim on that silver max is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ugly.

i couldn't think of a better analogy, but here's my take on 20s. It's like putting an "extra large" condom on a medium pee wee. With the proper suspension and exterior modifications, you can get away with 20s.

Your planning on getting 20's in NY? I have 19s in NJ and I dislike the ride on S-techs and Illuminas.

20 on a max seems foolish and 19's are also to big. 18's seem perfect for the max. It's not a suv and i brought my max for performance not the bling bling factor.........

i have 20's and like the look, though i do have fender flares... 20's may be a bit too big without them, since i liked the tucked look, but i dont think u can tuck a 20....

i'm going the semi VIP style, since maxima's dont really fall under the vip categoy... lol

i got some new 20's... i'll post pics when its done and on... these wheels are sick...

If youre really going for performance why a max? Don't get me wrong its a quick car but get an STI if youre that performance oriented, not a big *** 4 door.... I like the look of big rims on cars, especially bigger cars like the max. I'm not trying to save every second I can on the strip, I have a 200lb system in my trunk and 19's as it is. Anyway if you're really trying to save time at the track you'll take off your 18's and put on some light weight 16" rims with racing slicks right?

Someday I'll have my STI or G35 TT, for now I'll keep the max for bling and R6 for speed. Just my .02

diameter has nothing to do with width. It's very easy to find 17x9.5 wheels that are wider than your 20s...

by your logic:

"If you're really going for BLING why a max? Don't get me wrong it's a stylish car but get a (Mercedes/Navigator/Range Rover/Caddy) with "dubs" on it if you're that bling-oriented, not a Japanese *** 4 door....

style, performance, cost, and comfort are all compromises.

why buy a mercedes/nav/caddy? there all POS. IMO. i love my max and when i sell it i will buy another and another and another...lol i love the look...i have a 2000 and every1 asks me if its an 04 05...obviously they dont no **** about maxs. but whatever 20s are big and when i drop my car it will look better...but i belive in bringin the rims to the car not the car to the rims...my car handles fine and doesnt rub....i have had 2 ppl in the back about 170-190lbs each and never had any problems on the SE stock suspension...
prodigy your max is tight...lovin it...i dont no if the rims on the silver car are "ugly" there his preference...no need to hate...20s aint for every1 so get what YOU like and what YOU want...

Hey if you can find me a Mercedes/Navigator/Range Rover/Caddy 1 year old with 6,000 miles for $19,000 let me know, I got my max because its pretty bling for the $$$. As my point was before if youre going for performance there are many better performers for the same or less money, and if I was going to race my max I'd have a spare set of track wheels anyway. Besides, I guarantee if I'm on 20's I'll still walk an auto on 18's with similar mods. If somebody doesn't like the look of 20's thats cool with me, but I don't think its going to make a day/night difference performance wise.

Yeah DUBS man thats what its about!!! Actually I just want to get new rims and I don't want to go an inch lower, and since 20's are about the same price as 19's I just figured why not (hence the reason for the post). Sorry my post is too annoying for you, next time you see a topic "For those with 20's" feel free to just breeze right over it without thought- not like you put fourth that much anyway. BTW much props for your baby's stroller on dubs, you're the man!!!

I run 18's on the street, and 17's at the track....there is a noticeable performance difference. Rotational mass is a b1tch.

big wheels DO NOT equal success. if you use wheels to get attention and define who you are then you need to rethink your life.
any adult would pick any STOCK Mercedes over a maxima that got the "ghetto fabulous" treatment

i should get a real job? well ive been in the military for 11 years and im leaving for afghanistan in three days. im going to be there for six months. i have my job for reasons other then making lots of money. i dont need money to show off and give me a sense of self being. my money doesnt define who i am.
you may have three cars but i have diffirent priorities since i can only drive one car at a time. how do you know what my assets are? yes i own my maxima..and a house. and i have no debt. cars are not "assets". my mutual fund is an asset. i could have owned a $50K car years ago. everything i own was earned by me busting my @ss.
and you are a child for telling me to come see you in jersey if i "wanna beef". sorry, i wont be able to make it...i'll be living in a tent protecting your right to run your mouth.
and please learn to speak english. its a lot easier for us all to communicate that way. thanks
