Couple questions. I need to replace the carpet in my 2002 Max. Dealer wants $600. I see alot of companies that offer replacement carpet inexpensively, but all seem to stop at the year 2000. Anyone know a company that offers replacement carpet for a 2002 besides the dealer? Also, most companies show a carpet for 95-00 model years, yet 2000 is different from a 1999. Are they just listing it wrong, or is the floor pan very similar with a 1995-2003 Maxima, and they are just not editing the description?
Also, if custom molded is not available, has anyone replaced carpet using the stuff that is sold by the yard (from auto carpet dealers, not regular carpet), and installed it yourself without it being pre-molded to fit. If so how did it work out and how hard was it?

BTW yes I have considered used carpet from the classified, but I want brand new. Mine is not terrible, but new carpet will increase resale value when it comes time to trade up to a newer Max.....

Im pretty sure that there is a site where they sell the molded carpet already. But i cant recall it off the top of my head. And if u use just plain carpet thats sold by the yard, its a pain in the a$$ it get it prefect unless u have alot of experience. Ive done it on my silverado and i will never try it again.

I've pulled mine out twice and it's not that difficult as long as you take some time and care to get it back in place. You could try ebay or the classifieds here. $600 is rediculous.

is carpet for 2000 model cheaper than the dealer? the floor pan shoud be the same. you could also try local junk yards. ask them if they have 5th gen maximas, and if they will let you have the carpet. if it's in good condition, and your color, i would try to get it there. prolly not more than a few hundred for carpet in desent condition.

Yeah, the carpet for 2000 model is very inexpensive, which is exactly what I want. I just don't understand why it would fit a 2000, but not a 2002?

All of the aftermarket carpet kit's usually require alot of work trimming and cutting. I re-did the interior on my 87 Z, I bought a 'pre-molded' blah blah blah carpet kit. It cost like $200 and it was a cheap carpet that only had 3-ft seam on one side, and a few simple folds and stitches. Most of it required alot of cutting and fitting and glueing on my part. It came out awesome, and if I could go back in time I would have either spent $25 for materials and done it myself and it would have looked just as good, or I probably could have stripped the whole interior myself and then payed the lady down the street who runs her own auto upholstry shop $200 to lay, trim, and glue some carpet down. The $600 carpet from the dealer is twenty times easier to install and the carpet is very high quality, but not $600 worth.

Ok, I did some research and found this old thread. For the last hour I have been looking on-line for some replacement carpet for my 2002 Max. All of the sites list carpet for 00-01 and then skip to 04. I see that this was an issue back in 2005 based on this thread. Is there a reason that no one carries carpet for 02-03? Does anyone know of any sites that do sell carpet for 5.5? Is there a difference between the 00-01 carpet and the 02-03 carpet?

I dont see why the carpet in the 02-03's would be any different from 00-01.

and they suck just as he stated in o5. i just did a huge build that also included full recarpeting of the truck. needless to say it wasnt preformed or molded at all, and was ehhh quality carpet.
