the tube just hangs about 1-2 inches above the splash guard, with no bends... im wondering how air gets in there at all, wouldn't the air that goes in through the grill actually exit through the oscai tube, limiting air instead of increasing it ? or did i f up the oscai ?
(yes i searched but it seems like all there was, was the 'straw example' in which there didn't seem to be a consensus)
thanks

The engine creates a vacuum in the intake. The more open the throttle, the greater the vacuum. I assume you know which direction air (and just about anything else) travels in the presence of a vacuum. ("Open the pod bay door, Hal," suddenly comes to mind.)

The fact that the OSCAI produces a performance gain is attibutable to the fact that the stock air intake isn't capable of supplying as much air as the engine can ingest at WOT.

plus, this setup is track-proven. DaveB and many others have gone to the track with it and it the setup has done quite well.

the real gains of this setup are seen when the car is moving, so it's tough to get an accurate estimate from a dyno....but i Don't know if anyone has dyno'd it.... people's 1/4 miles times have gone down with it though from what I have heard.

Correct. The OSCAI has resulted in an average reduction of 2/10ths of a second in the quarter-mile.

I bent the tube and made it facing forward. It locates on the front left corner and I didnt put 2 of those clippers back to the splash guard. I think it is somewat of "force induction."

in order to prevent stuff going in, I made a cover with mesh wire (grill). hope in wont reduce air flow.

I thought it has been stated 1/4 times have been improved with the OSCAI? You are saying the times have gone down.

Hogan's intake is the only underhood intake that makes sense to me. That's because it uses the battery as a heat shield.

I know that several 5th Gen Maxima owners use underhood intakes successfully and I suspect that I could probably reistall an underhood intake now that my detonation problem has seemingly been corrected. But there's no doubt that our high-compression engines are finicky when it comes to ingesting hot air. If you don't believe me, check out:
