those that have had bumpers repainted...

my bumpers have a lot of scrapes and chips and stuff wrong with them and repainting them may be the answer to my problems. I think a repaint of the bumpers would make the car look 10 times better. I was just wondering what something like this would cost? What have some of you guys paid to get bumpers repainted? thanks!

I had my 02 bumper and hood repainted, but the autobody shop is across the street from me. He's my neighbor so he painted it for 100.00 but he told me he usually charges 300-500 dollars

Did he use quality chip resistent and flex paint for bumpers?
Bumper paint job is not the same as regular sheetmetal

I had my bumper and hood painted ro $522. I also purchased a clear bra of ebay for $50. It covers the front of hood, the whole bumper, front of fenders and the mirrors. Still havent put that stuff on, I will put it on soon and post some pictures.

We repainted bumpers, hood, fender before, and are about to paint rear lip for my max. It's a lot cheaper then the paint shop, and just as good.
I think to paint hood and bumper is too much for $522, it should be like at least $200 if not less.

Uhhh at where? I just ran a quick estimate, and if you were to come to our shop, it would be about $450.00 for the front bumper alone. It also depends on how much body work is necessary, as well. Flex additive is standard any time a plastic bumper is being painted, but I've never heard of chip resistant paint. $200 will barely even cover your material cost ! But I guess you get what you pay for. That's like the difference between generic wheels and Volks. Both can be rolled on to get you to and from work, but the Volks are probably lighter, stronger, and look better. But you get what you pay for.
As far as the hood, I came up with about $850. But, that also includes a blend on both fenders as well. I noticed your car was Sterling Mist, and metallic's are not the easiest color to match. I know right now, a bunch of people are getting all nuts, thinking that my shop is a rip off. But for you particular guys, think what you guys want........we have a beautiful shop, we've been in business for 40 years, and we do great work......you get what you pay for. When I have customers come in here to "Shop me" for the cheapest price, I don't even write the estimate. Why waste their time and mine. I kindly tell them that we're not the place for them. I know we're not cheap, so why try and compete with low end shops. I have nothing against people saving $$$ and doing it themselves or taking it to less expensive shops. I understand what it means to be on a budget, just shop/spend wisely, based on research. Good luck, Jackboot.

paint cost very little, maybe 50 bucks, it is the time spend that you are paying for.

You guys also have to weigh in the possibility of how faded your car is and if you are going to get a glaring bright panel.....the doors on my old car were pretty obvious.

I paid $125 to get my bumper repainted at a big and reputable shop here in Oklahoma. They did a great job. There are only about 3 chips (very small) since January, and I drive a lot also.

Damn, that's nuts. Is that a preferred customer/good friend price? Our material COST is almost 1/4 of that price. And that's without ANY labor. If they do a good job, I'd stick with them.

Yeah, our color is more expensive because it's a tri-stage, as opposed to the other's that are just base and clear.

Just the front bumper was quoted between $180 and $250 (diff shops). FYI, it was repainted about 20k miles ago (and they did a good job), and now the bumper has hundreds of rock chips in it again. I may get it painted again, but it seems pointless...

I just recently got my hood and passenger rear door repainted. Both cost me $450 and if I wanted to paint the front bumper it would have been around $150-200. The place I went to a friend recommend me so I get good price plus i'm a repeat customer. This place is a reputable shop and won tons of awards.
