Curb rash repair...(Help)

A while ago I rashed the sh*t out of my front right TE rim when trying to park as close as possible to a curb on a curved block. I wept like a b*tch after I saw the damage, but it's definitely curable. Now, I'm thinking in order to cure this I'd have to:

Sand down the rashed area to a flat and smooth surface, and then use touch up paint (coupled with langka to avoid blobs), then clear coat it.

Is that right? Any other suggestions would be great (what grit to use, etc.).

I heard nothing but good things about Stockton Wheel and their great work. I'm sure there's places around your area that do that type of work. I also saw a do-it-yourself thread on Evolutionm.net but now I can't find it. A fellow member in our local Turbo Buick club had his factory wheels widen from 15X7 to 15X10 and they came out really good. I know these are nothing like your TE wheels but here's an example.

I got lucky w/ my slightly curb-rashed TE rim...

A local .org member had an extra TE rim that he didn't need (in pretty great shape too), and sold it to me pretty cheap. Now i can use my old one as a full size spare.

Hey Arnold......

I feel your pain. Never got curb rash my self because I am compulsive when parking. My wife had her new truck 2 Days before she got a nasty curb rash. Any way this link will show you exactly how to fix it . It worked excellent on my wifes rim. Almost undetectable. GoodLuck http://articles.autopia.org/index.ph..._v2&id=28&c=18 P.S If a mod could make this a stickie in the how to section that would be great.

I was just asking the same question in the local forum. Is it possible to fix if you have rims with a polished lip?? I want to know cause Im thinking of buying some rims off of another .org member but they have some small curb rashes.
